We are here, haru. Join us.

But anyway, that's just the trend I've noticed. Their past projects show that sometime after the DS, they started to separate what a portable game should be compared to a home game.

Before that they would usually try their best to make handheld games as close as console games as they could. With the required adjustments.

But now they will almost always scale down the scope of their games to make them portable friendly. Adding quick menus, short segments, and giving plenty of options a to make things easier.

To treat the switch like a portable, would mean that they would need to use their portable design rules in their switch games.

The thing I liked the most about Superstar Saga was how snappy the battles were. These days it takes like 10 whole seconds just for a basic attack, partly because of overly elaborate animations, partly because the bros just can't stop celebrating every minor accomplishment.

Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

There's really no need for the spoiler tag, considering you already technically spoiled it by saying there's a icon for the game. (Which should have been in a spoiler tag.)

I'm not what to post, but something should pop up here eventually.

I absolutely can't wait for this! Superstar Saga is one of my all-time favorite games that I play through at least once a year; practically everything is muscle memory. Easy to understand gameplay, memorable characters, awesome music, a fun overworld that begs to be explored, and just an overall good time!

This may NOT be a remake with the game updated to a modern graphic style. It may just be the original Super Star Saga with some extra bells and whistles like new Wi-Fi multi-player mini-games or something like that. If that is the case then it could also signal a new approach to releasing VC games (i.e. don't just package up the original ROM but add some kind of new content) and could be released on both the 3DS and the Switch.

I was also thinking this would be an enhanced port, similar to how the Zelda Four Swords port on 3DS was done. I guess we will see in the future.

It would be great to see some GBA games enhanced like this.

Hold on… what does this have to do with the Koopalings? I saw "Bowser's Minions" in the title. Weren't they already in the game as a series of bosses?

Well yes, but they're about as relevant to the plot as any plain koopa troopa. They might as well be boom booms.

If they were to receive expanded roles (or even just... Dialogue!) in an improved rerelease... It would be nice, I guess... As long as they don't resort to removing original characters and bosses from the game to force "bowser's minions" into the story...

As mentioned in my comment for the leak's announcement article - all I need is three quality-of-life changes, namely:

  • Healing blocks
  • A boss rematch system
  • More warp pipes (Hoohoo Village and/or Bowser's Castle, anyone? Yes, I know Stardust Fields "can do", but...)

A sound test would also be nice, but the first three ones I mentioned would be enough. I mean, come on, the Japanese version of Superstar Saga already had healing blocks in the first place!

I'd love a remake on 3DS, I never finished SS on the GBA. It was really fun, though, but the copy I had died mid game and I never bothered on hunting down another one.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I just just just hope this is their way of seeing if maybe, MAYBE, we actually prefer their old approach to Mario RPGs... And that they won't kill the personality of the original game to make it "up to date" with their modern "everything must be vanilla Mario" ideology.

Welcome to MushMush Kingdom. Help Queen Toad and Prince Toad save their homeland from Koopakletta and Kamekful. Oh and that random sidekick from Bowser's Inside story is also here for some reason.

@Luna_110
If you never finished the first one... well, it's down there with Pokémon Red & Blue in the "RPGs with no postgame whatsoever" circle of gaming hell. You finish the game, and it's back to the last save point with you. No boss rematch mode, no post-game Beanbean Kingdom, nothing at all.

@Meowpheel We can basically consider it a replacement for the fifth inclusion of Mario Bros. on the GBA.

What's cool is how the game is presented as a retelling of the original, both outside the game and in, from the looks of the cinema setting. A clever way of using an otherwise cliched ending device.

Can't wait to see visually updated hand powers, especially Thunder Bros.! And on the note of Bros. Attacks, it appears that the "Advanced" versions are now called Super and are selected separately. Who knows if they're still unlocked the same way, but they definitely seem to cost a lot more BP than the normal versions. I also didn't notice the difficulty "modes".

With the art direction the original had, I don't feel like a modern remake of the game is going to visually improve it all that much. That being said, Superstar Saga is tied with Bowser's Inside Story for my favorite Mario RPG, so I'm still very excited for it and will certainly be getting it.

Definitely will be adding this game to my collection. Never played the original

Want: Mario Party Top 100, Atlus games, Psychic Spectres for the 3DS. For the Switch Kirby Star Allies, Yoshi and many others.

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing Stories, Crystal and Ultra Sun.

I have a hard time picking favourites between all the M&L games but Superstar Saga was always fun to replay so I am super excited about this. It looks like the game implements Paper Jam's battle mechanics and stat distribution though, which intrigues me.
