it's not as big as the news of a new 3ds zelda, but aonuma pretty much confirmed that they're doing majora's mask 3d without directly saying it.

As one who has never ever played the original Majora's Mask I'm quite happy with the possibility of The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask being brought to the Nintendo 3DS.
I am still on Ocarina of Time as I don't play my video games for hours on end due to the fact that I enjoy playing games in short bites but so far Ocarina of Time is really incredible and after having looked at the E3 2000 trailer of Majora's Mask and fan art on tumblr I'm finding myself even more intrigued and my appetite has truly been whetted. I can only imagine how epic the game would look in 3D.

A link to the past in 3D would be cool and all, but stereoscopic 3D wouldn't enhance 2D gameplay one iota outside of being pretty to look at and there's not much to improve with the game otherwise. majora's mask would benefit a whole lot more from 3D and it would push the 3DS harder (it's winning, by the way!).

Yeah...no. Each of the big 3 have made remakes (Not sure about sony, but they've had HD collections). Besides, some people have emotional attachments to these games, and want to see them with a 'fresh coat of paint', if you will.

It's a little different when your console actually gets third party support. With the Wii you're relying entirely on Nintendo.

Personally, I'm fine for more remakes of Decade old classics. It would be a great way to attract new comers since they were already great games, sure one can argue that the Wii's virtual already does the job, but I find alot of the younger audience to react negatively due to the dated look of them. Adding a fresh coat of paint to the titles and reworking some mechanics would do the job.
As to why Ninty is not making new games... The way I see it, developing an entirely new ip is a huge risk as Producing a title costs alot and the market isn't ensured. Ninty is keeping it safe with the old ip's since it already has a target market, and as the old saying goes If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Yes, it looks lazy but Ninty has to make a profit somehow.

Anyway, I don't need a totally remade Majora's Mask game. A bit of a graphical and sound update would be nice, and if they fix the glitches I'm totally on board. I'm not picky, I just love this game. Its pretty much fine as it is, just a bit of a touch-up is all I'm hoping for.

I wouldn't think they would bother with boss rush mode for the simple fact you can fight the bosses again and again just by going back in time.

but maybe they can make a new master quest version of mm by having a mirror world and harder temples,keeps it fun.

I don't think they're hurting for money though.
How many franchises can Nintendo enthusiasts list that Nintendo is neglecting? Star Fox, F-Zero, etc. Why not hire a developer to work on these games? And people will tell me "Oh how do you know they aren't" and to that I would say, I don't know. But I used this same argument years and years ago, and what franchises have they been pushing out of the ordinary? Kid Icarus is the only one that comes to mind, and even that wasn't a huge release.

They could market boxed air, call it Wii Breathe, and people would still buy it. They have plenty of already existing IPs they could make new games for.
As long as people purchase these remakes though, what's the point? Just take a game we already made, repackage it, and see how many people will buy thing the same over and over.. There's no incentive to put effort into anything, which is why we'll only see a handful of franchises ever get actual new games.
