When this game was revealed, I yelled so loud that I broke the sound barrier. I've been wanting a sequel to Luigi's Mansion for quite some time, and it'll be here next year. I hope it's longer than the first!

I'm back (for the moment)!

Information straight from the Nintendo Network at E3 2011.
•Shining a light on the ghosts is no longer enough to stun them into immobility. Players need to activate a strobe function and release it to stun the ghosts before sucking them up with the Poltergust.
•Different types of ghosts haunt the different mansions. Luigi must figure out how to defeat each one of them and find hidden secrets to unlock new areas and treasure chests. These new elements add more variety and introduce new puzzle-solving mechanics.
•Players can use the Poltergust to help Luigi remove wallpaper to reveal hidden areas, clean up piles of treasure-hiding leaves or suck up stacks of coins and bills. But in reality, the nervous and reluctant Luigi just wants to get as far away from these ghosts as possible.
•The 3D visuals bring the mansions, ghosts and surroundings to life. Players experience all the haunting chills and fun the game has to offer.
•This game is the first follow-up to the 2001 Nintendo GameCubeTM launch title Luigi's Mansion™.

Also, there's this picture.

King Boo has returned, and he still has his old look.

That sounds fantastic, I really wish it was coming out this year. Oh well, I can still get Super Mario 3D and Mario Kart this holiday at least.

@NintyFan I find that last point pretty interesting...they have plans to make more Luigi's Mansion games?

This is one of those games I NEVER thought I would see. I know there is a niche group of people that really love Luigi's Mansion, but never thought we would see a sequel. After reading up on it and seeing the 3D trailer on my 3DS, I am really excited for this!

Nintendo had me at this in E3. I was at the brink of considering a Vita instead of a 3DS. My mind has been changed..

I really hope they manage to make the mansions large enough. One of the greatest parts of the first game was its use of the mansion for exploration and atmosphere. I truly hope switching between mansions won't diminish what the first one did. The first one was brilliant, easily my favorite Gamecube game.

I wonder if Luigi's Mansion 2 will have online or local multiplayer features?

Even though I had a GC, I never played LM. Therefore, I'm excited about LM 2. Also, I'm a Luigi fan.

I'm massively looking forward to this. The only problem with the GC Version was that it only took me three hours to finish, i hope this isn't the same with the new version, as they did mention at E3 there'd be MANY mansions to explore, i just hope they uphold that promise

@3DSneedsRPGs I agree, I hope this game has some length to it.

@Totally-Rad if you still have your GC you should buy the Original Luigi's Mansion it really is a great game.

Our family has a Wii and I was wondering about a few things. If you own a Wii do you need to purchase a GameCube Memory Card and GameCube controller?

Yes and yes. Nintendo unfortunately doesn't let you save GC data to the Wii memory. It makes no sense but that's how it is.

EDIT: Aviator beat me to it :3

Yep, but if you give me your address (evil laugh) i can supply you with a memory card, (i have about eight spares) and you can get a Gamecube controller really cheap on Amazon or eBay.

Late

I haven't played original Luigi's Mansion as it's hard to find GameCube games in Finland these days and I'm not going to try finding them now as Wii U won't play GameCube games anymore but I'm looking forward this new Luigi's Mansion. I'm sure to get it when the time is right.

It's its, not it's.

I am one of those people who was a die-hard Luigi's Mansion fan because of its status as a creepy Nintendo oddball gem. I really hope that this new one lives up to it. The footage I've seen, though, looks slightly rough in texture and there needs to be more darkness, as far as lighting goes; ghosts popping out at me in lit rooms is both too cartoonish and takes away from the general dread of entering a dark one. If Luigi's Mansion 2 is to live up to its predecessor, it's all about tone.

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

It's not just about tone, but primarily the gameplay. I hope it has some new innovations! I really can't wait for this game!

Well, there's supposed to be an "Action" button now, right? I'm kinda going by memory here but I think I heard that from somewhere.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
