Uhh, the fact that new 3DS games are still coming out proves that Nintendo hasn't combined its development resources for Switch. Because obviously. And they always drop the last console like hot trash while handhelds get to overlap. See GBA games into the DS' launch, or the Wii U in its 'fifth year'

I'm very disappointed in this from what little we know so far.

Ideally, it would be on Switch and add significant new features to the game. As is, I'm probably going to skip it.

That just boosted my confidence for the remake!

I find this to be incredibly disappointing. It should be released on the Switch eShop at a $30ish price point. I had hoped for this Switch port since they announced the Switch.

Go ahead and crucify me, but I wish they would cutoff the 3ds, or dual release all titles to encourage their 3ds audience to convert already. Mostly because I no longer care to deal with two separate gaming machines. 😅

For the people who played both Luigi Mansion games. Is it possible to revisit old areas like a free roam game or the games are strictly stage ---> next stage ---> next stage?

Funny you ask that, as maybe the biggest difference between the games is that the first game is free roam focused and Dark Moon is stage focused.

Anyone have any theories as to what the amiibo support will be? or if you think they might make new amiibo for the game?

I enjoyed Dark Moon, until I got to a certain boss in a frozen mansion that made me rage quit. But from a design standpoint, some of the charm of the original was lost. They put a lot of effort and backstory into the mansion in the first game.

I just wish they would port it to the Switch and also give us a real sequel. The fact that this series never really became a franchise just bewilders me. Everyone loves Luigi's mansion.

I might buy this just for the stereoscopic 3d effect. I only borrowed the original game back in Gamecube days so this would a nice addition to my collection. Not going to buy two copies for full co-op experience though it would be an exciting new way to experience the game.

Well, I'm enjoying my time with it, but I do prefer the nuances of the original. As annoying as it is, I really do wish it had gotten an HD remaster instead.

Either way, though, it's still super fun. My first gamecube game and now it's on a handheld, which is pretty cool

According to the video the 3DS version is not a port but a remake. A port is adapting the game to different hardware and a remake is rebuild the game. There are some things that have been improved but others that are better on GameCube because the game made use of specific hardware functions like double framebuffering.

I still haven't played the 3DS version, it is not out in Europe until tomorrow. There are some things that I think that look better on the GameCube game but I can't wait to play the game in 3D and see those new textures by myself. I think this is a case where there is no definitive version.
