@Mr_LztheBleh Then what's the extra data for? What do you lose when you delete that?

Some games, (eg. Nintendo Letter Box) store extra data in the extra data, in Nintendo Letter Box this is letters, so when you delete the software, the only thing lost is your progress in unlocking things, not the letters.

@Pengaweeno I figured that out when I deleted my Letter Box and Pokedex Extra Data, only to realize I still had everything from MASATL2012OGVCA (Groans). What about extra data for retail games?

If you're referring to physical games, the save file is on the cartridge itself

Some do, some not. As i said, I lost all my career on Fifa 12, while I kept all my progress saved from RE: Revelations. I gotta say that in general I kept all the data for physical games (I didn't try them all yet, I really hope I didn't lose the saved progress on Ghost recon: Shadow wars!)

I'm not too worried about the sd card content. As long as I can start games again it's fine. The thing that worries me is transferring my account so I won't lose everything I bought from the original 3ds e shop so I can redownload when I want to.

you don't lose your eShop account. It merges the two together, so your balance and games are transferred over to the new 3DS. you just have to redownload everything.

looking forward to Yoshi's Woolly World, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Fossil Fighters Frontier, Story of Seasons and Kirby & the Rainbow Curse.

well, I didn't since the old 3ds got the system formatted.... but now that I read your comment I just thought "well, I've got nothing to lose". So I swapped the cards, started Muttant mudds to check it out and.... guess what? All my saved progress is there!! 37/40! Same for my Pushmo puzzles lol

Can't thank you enough. Truth is I've been so busy at work that I couldn't really spend time solving this problem till today, but you just brought up the solution. Thank you very much! :D

So for some reason system transfer passed all the data, but not the SD card data. Luckily enough, it also formated all the data, but the SD card data ^^

all the data on my original 3ds got deleted because it was stolen,so i freaked out not knowing if i would get it back so i got an XL last saturday,it was returned last monday, but all my friends and download titles were deleted but i was able to redownload all my games for free,so then after doing a system transfer to the XL i activated streetpass on all my games, and i know my friends have streetpass activated for their games but the only game of mine that has worked in streetpass so far is ridge racer 3d,and i know i activated streetpass for it on the XL but im not receiving any mystery blocks from my friends in Super Mario 3d Land even though they have it with streetpass activated, and the same thing goes for NSMB2 and the Coin Rush records,my friend received my coin rush record today when we streetpassed so he got mine but i didn't get his, could somebody please explain whats going i'd really appreciate it so thank you very much for your attention.

Is someone rationing periods? That's barely readable.
How long did you 'streetpass' for. It can take a moment for data to transfer, which could explain why he got data and you didn't...
