"Features include a dual-lens camera for 3D recording, HDMI and DLNA connectivity options for 3D content sharing."

So there you go. If this phone runs Android, or Windows Phone 7, looks like Nintendo is going to have some glasses-free 3D gaming competition after all.

Of course, LG isn't much of a vendor, but what happens when, say, Samsung, Ericsson, Nokia, HTC, or eventually Apple join in this party? After all, it's not Nintendo's technology, so glasses-free 3D is open slather for phone vendors.

I have a feeling that if/when the 3DS starts being successful, phone companies will be jumping on the idea of 3D phones like crazy. Many are probably waiting to see if it will be successful.

The glasses-free 3D bandwagon is passing by, naturally other companies are going to be climbing aboard...

Obviously it isn't. Why was it necessary to point this out?

Anyways, congrats to LG. Let's see how their phone utilize this.

I agree. He usually only argues against anything Nintendo makes like that when first provoked by someone. Anyway, I'm interested to know if this device's 3D screen is also a touch screen. I am under the impression that it is rather difficult if not next to impossible to have a 3D screen and touch screen co-exist on the same display. At least, currently it is.

Too bad this thread wasn't in General Discussions considering how we learned that they can't be moved by tbd in the PSP2/NGP thread.

Yeah, I don't know why this is in the 3DS section. Oh well...

This isn't interesting nor surprising news. This was eventually going to happen once an autostereoscopic device was manufactured and widely released on the market, especially one with the fanfare of a gaming handheld.

Well I was expecting 6-12 months before smartphones go 3D, so I guess I was right.

I'm sure Apples next Iphone will be 3D as well, if not that one, then the one next year.

Obviously Nintendo will sell buttloads of systems, but the question is how long will the sales last? Cause there's NO WAY it'll last as long as the DS has, not the way the mobile market is now.

Or better yet, floating hologram screens.

I know, I wouldn't want a 3D phone.

Who cares about Android phones running 3D? The gaming market on Android is abysmal (unless you count puzzle games and classic system emulators). And the market is so fragmented with weak ------> powerful phones that it's no good for developers to make ambitious games (yet). A 3D iPhone would be pretty amazing, however....

I honestly don't think iThings are gonna have 3D as soon as people think they will. All iThings nowadays have a touch screen, a very important element to them. As I have said before, I'm skeptical of the possibility of touch and 3D on the same screen. Mostly due to comments by Nintendo. If it is indeed true that both technologies can't be on the same screen, I doubt very very highly that Apple would give up a touch screen for 3D. Nintendo is lucky it has the use of 2 screens. They can have their cake, and eat it too!

Of course there is going to be an influx of 3D devices. As soon as the tech becomes affordable then it will be used in lots of things just like touch screen before it. As for Nintendo ,while its true that they don't invent new technology they are very good at popularising it.How many things had touch screens before the DS?not many, now everything is bloody touch screen and I'm sure the same will happen with the glasses free 3D tech.

What's this bit for again?
