I think Lego rushed this out too fast. The like just put out the sets. The didn't have lego batman until at least two years after the first sets.

I got this game, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I got it only because Pirates is my favorite movie series. This game does a terrible job of replaying the movies. Key events are left out or expressed incorrectly; for example, Becket, a very important character, does not appear in the story at all. There are puzzles everywhere; literally, you do a puzzle and then there's another one around the corner. The duels are lame; you start by pressing B repeatedly and then press the X,Y, and A button in the order that the game asks. Lastly, the cutscenes have a terrible picture quality, which leads me to question whether the 3DS is capable of playing HD cutscenes; it looks like the mobi video codec cutscenes on the DS games.
Does anyone know if the 3DS is capable of playing cutscenes in a decent quality? How well do the cutscenes play in Samurai Warriors?

@supernin10do - I'd believe that 3DS can play cutscenes in decent quality as original DS could do that for me. Professor Layton and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days had nice good cutscenes if you ask me, so I'm pretty sure it's just the game that matters on 3DS cutscene quality. I don't own 3DS yet, so I can't tell you more than this

It's its, not it's.

I'm sorta surprised the 3DS version isn't the exact same as the consoles. I guess that disproves all the talk about 3DS being more powerfull than Wii. If they still have to give you a half assed version on handhelds that's missing levels.
I'll just stick with the Wii version thanks.

Don't worry man, the 3DS is indeed stronger than the Wii as far as I'm concerned. You'll see better quality and better developed games on the Nintendo 3DS once E3 2011 is over which is exactly why I'm saving my money for those soon to be revealed titles. Cave Story 3DS? Meh. Rayman 3D? Meh. I'll pass on all the launch titles, won't be buying them until they get a price drop.

I think that the developers rushed LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean in an attempt to ensure that the game hit shelves around the same time as the release of Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides and this in turned hurt the development of the game. Snesh, the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean toy sets have barely gotten their bottoms accustomed to sitting on store shelves yet, I could almost hear them saying 'ouch, my bottoms sore' as I past by them in Wal Mart the other day. The LEGO Harry Potter sets have been in stores years while LEGO Harry Potter The Video Game was a star in the celestial cosmos of imagination. It wasn't born yet.

Ah, but back to the point of the 3DS and it's abilities of power.

As far as I'm concerned the 3DS is far more powerful than the meh meh PSP. In fact, I'd put the 3DS somewhere between the iPod Touch and iPad in terms of power and ability. However, I sincerely believe that the Sony NGP will be a lot stronger than the 3DS which is also why I'm laying aside a bit of money to invest in it. The PSP let me down, but I don't think that the NGP will. Yet, even if the NGP is stronger than the Nintendo 3DS, my 3DS will obviously get much more use from me as it is really slick and downright rhombus.

Besides, Nintendo always gets the best games on their handhelds while PlayStation has yet to prove that they are capable of amassing a slew of 'cool' games (i.e.DeBlob, Luminous Arc, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Kid Icarus) instead of a load of 'mature' crud like Dead Head Fred, Silent Hill, Assassin's Creed and Resistance: Retribution. The GameBoy systems and the original DS have continuously proven that Nintendo is the rightful holder of the title 'King of Handhelds'. Now let us see if Sony PlayStation can change that. If Sony prices the NGP just right and Sly Cooper gets a game on day one then I'll be there with bells on.

@Whoever said this proves the 3DS isn't as powerful as Wii due to less content. Not really. Content quantity is based on storage space. All Wii discs hold the same amount and cost the same amount to manufacture. Not the same for game cards. More storage space equals less profit.

The same also explains the poor video quality. The video is overcompressed to fit as much in as little space as possible.

As for PSP2 beating the 3DS. Who knows. Can't really see it myself as it'll come down to the software in the long term and Nintendo seem to have a way of making a more first party titles that lots of people want to play.

I have Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days as well, and yes, the cut scenes are decent... for a DS. If the 3DS can't play cutscenes in a crisp image quality, I'm dissapointed. Can you imagine the 3D movies and netflix in this kind of image quality? It would be a nightmare! I just hope that the cutscenes in this game were bad, only because they were taken off and compressed from a more powerful console.

I'm quite curious as to what you're trying to say here... your 3DS is "an oblique-angled parallelogram having four equal sides"?

Now I realize why not a lot care for Lego Pirates, Dead or Alive is just around the corner.
Lego Pirates 3D is still worth getting for your hungry 3DS.

Meh. As long as the LEGO games don't do something radically new i'll only pay up to 20€ for them anyway. I find they're fun games but you don't miss out much if you've only got one of the series'.

That surprises me. I thought it'd just be one price for one cartridge. Like you have to use a 2 GB cartridge for a 100 MB game too. I'd be interested to hear what's the case here in reality.

No, just like SD cards come in different sizes for radically differnt prices DS / 3DS carts do the same, DS carts with some exceptions capped about 512MB and by all accounts the standard size for the 3DS is 2GB, however I remember reading that depending on what the developers want to pay out this could be nearer 8GB.... but size costs money so I think only the big guns would ever consider that (pokemon, mabey final fantasy), or mabey as time goes on and tech gets cheaper who knows.
The long and short of it regarding this game is that TellTale games would probably sell just as many if not more copies of the DS version at the moment than the 3DS version so why spend what the dont have to and we the 3DS owners get a 'meh' version that is good but could have been better.

Thanks, Raptor78 ! I could go on about the problems with file sizes on (3)DS(i)Ware and that being the reason for so many shovelware games out there. But after all this is a thread about a game so i'll just keep it at that.

I agree with you. I also read the article about 3DS game cartridges going up to 8GB and I'm sure that a game like Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance and the rumored LEGO The Hobbit video game that is to be released alongside the upcoming Hobbit movie might use something along the lines of 4gb or 8 gb cartridges.

Project Hint for Lego Pirates #1

getting the red brick from free play mode of The Maelstrom level gives you Master Duellist. In dueling segment while turning Master Duellist on, the ability gives you a 1-hit KO on your opponents. Their 3 hearts will now be just 1.

those of you that find the dueling segments tedious and boring, this ability will improve on that and hopefully you find the game much more enjoyable.

I have never played a LEGO Pirates game, only watched a batman game for 5 minutes and I have 2 Lego Star wars games. I got the Star Wars III for the 3DS. In 3D, the lego star Wars games have very good graphics. My friend has lego star wars III for the Wii and the graphics are horrible on it, the 3DS has way better graphics.

MarioKart7 Is on it's way =D Should be here any day now.

I just picked this game up. I enjoy the LEGO games for the Wii, and will probably get Pirates for the Wii as well ... they're fun to play co-op. This is my first DS LEGO game.

Just out of curiosity ... the game didn't come with Club Nintendo points? Or is it just mine?

Only games made by Nintendo get Club Nintendo points.
It make it hard for other games to sell on the Wii if only nintendo games get points.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Yes, now that I've played on 3DS I don't really want to play on the Wii anymore. The graphical capabilities of the 3DS have spoiled me. Nevertheless I will be going back to 2D so I can enjoy Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Little Deviants on the Sony NGP. I only hope that the NGP and Nintendo Project Cafe aren't HIGHLY expensive. The price tag on the iPad is quite hefty for as I only consider the iPad to be bigger version of the iPhone/ iTouch.
