I never really bothered with these Lego games...what are they like? I'm thinking about getting one for a system. (probably the 3DS, since there's not many good games at launch anyways)

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Lego Star Wars III and this game are going to be the first Lego games to compete with the home consoles. For that reason, the 3DS will be my choice for games on multiple systems.

They're pretty simplistic, basically have you exploring areas and destroying everything that's physically possible in order to collect studs to buy more characters (and there's usually hundreds to unlock). It's not very deep but very satisfying and there's a certain charm to it, especially if you have any fondness for Lego or Star Wars/Pirates of the Caribbean/Harry Potter or whatever.
Playing them on co-op with a friend also makes them twice as fun, which is the only reason I'd recommend getting them on a console rather than the DS.

Well I don't know many gamers, so...yeah, lol. But it looks like I may enjoy it, from videos I've seen in the past, it seems like it has a lot of humor in them as well, lol.

Well I know that the PSP and Nintendo DS versions of LEGO Star Wars II The Original Trilogy both had multiplayer functions. The PSP version was ad-hoc and there was no single disc game sharing while the Nintendo DS had single game card sharing meaning one person could have the game in their DS while others didn't and still be able to play. The Nintendo DS version of LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga also featured multiplayer functions although both players needed to have their own game cards (MultiCard) instead of having one(Single Card Multiplayer).
I wonder how LEGO Star Wars III and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean will handle multiplayer aside from what we know about Street Pass.
I played the first Lego Star Wars game and Lego Indiana Jones game, its all the same stuff only with different themes. I wish they still made games like they used to...

Just remember, there is very little challenge in the main game, but some of the side quests that are timed are pretty hard
...Maybe I'll just wait on a review...or something, I dunno. xD

No, I mean what do people want? I do not think playing with a random stranger online would be fun. It would make sense if there was friend online co-op, but I'd rather play locally.

You could be right but I still would prefer online multiplayer functions of some sort be it with a friend or a random stranger.
Here is a link to an article with some nice screenshots of the upcoming game.

Just a heads up for everyone. I purchased the 3DS version today. Unfortunately, it's not a direct port of the Wii version, as a number of sources originally suggested. Rather, it appears to be the same game as the PSP and DS version, just 3D-ified.
Good news is, even though it's not a console port, it's still really fun. The levels are very reminiscent of the console designs as far as I can tell, and the gameplay is still pretty much just like any other LEGO game. In terms of features, it's structured almost exactly like the DS version of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, but with the handy ability to save just about any time, instead of only at the end of levels.
So yeah, it's not the home console port that it was originally said to be, but it's still very fun and very much worth playing.
