I hope to play a demo or see a review before I pre-order because I'm not totally confident in the controls.
I hope this series of videos on Nintendo's site helps you get an idea of what the controls are like.
Looking at videos of the online mode, it seems it'll be similar to SSBB in the way that it announces GAME SET when a round is over, and opponents "explode" when they fall off the area. I'm sure this has probably been discussed already (don't feel like checking all the previous pages to find out) but I'm just letting myself learn more about the game now now that I've got it preordered.
Probably I'm wrong, but this is an on-rails shooter, right?
It's like a chapter game, part 1 of a chapter is an "Air Battle", which is an on-rails shooter. Part 2 is a Land Battle, where you freely control your character to get to the ending point of the level. The last part is Boss Battle where you...erm, battle a boss.

Keep it PG-13-ish.

It's a mix. In singleplayer you start out in the air, then land on the ground and continue the battle from there until you get to the boss of the level.
In multiplayer you are in full control of your character all of the time. So the on-rails segment is not a very big part of the game.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

Only half of it is. There are flying sections and ground sections. The on-rails shooter part is the former whereas the latter is more like a third person action/adventure game. Although, it seems like it has more action than adventure.
@Mandoble that's part of it. Each level has that, and a flying segment and an on foot segment, if I remember correctly. Right?

The in air sections are On-rail simlar to star fox 64. The rest of the game is third person shooter/Action Game Hybrid. Think a more visually light hearted Ninja Gaiden/bayonetta.
WAT!

Iirc the game has both on-rail segments, where you control Pit's movement and shooting, and literal on-rail segments, where you only control Pit's shooting. Also iirc, the emphasis is on the former type of on-rail, while there are fewer of the latter type of on-rail segments. I'm not sure of the exact number of each type, but I'm assuming there are more where you control Pit because most of the pre-game hype about the Air Level battles has focused on ones where you control Pit. Also, they probably wouldn't be packing in a stand for the game if it wasn't for a good cause ...
Here is some bad news For the Canadians wanting a free 3D Classic Kid Icarus, EB Games and Best Buy are only offering their Pre Order bonus in USA. However they won't leave you empty handed. Both Stores offer you 5 Exclusive Idol cards. There are no images on the cards Best Buy are offering, but EB Games have an image. Their cards include the Fiend's Cauldren, and The Eggplant Wizard.
Apparently Hal isn't good at making 3D platformers, which is why a 3D Kirby doesn't exist. Which is a shame as it's like the last old school game that's never been in a 3D game that probably should be (outside of I guess getting off your vehicle in Air Ride).

When I saw a gameplay video of this game a long time ago last year, I thought I saw those spiky Gordos from the Kirby series at the Reaper level. I only saw them for a spilt second.
Remoblams are odd, cycloptic orb-like creatures that are capable of levitation, introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising. They are often accompanied by smaller Remoblamlings, which physically resemble their larger counterparts. Apparently, they act as living mines that will explode when Pit draws near them. While they can be dealt with individually, it is best to seek out the leader Remoblam as its destruction will also eliminate the group of Remoblamlings that it controls. Is that what you saw?
