No conversation? Well how about we divert to more talk of our love of this game....I love the trophy system, just like I did in Brawl, speaking of Brawl the whole set up (Menus) seems extremely reminiscent of SSBB.

A lot of Sakurai games seem to have that Menu design.

So while it can't be denied that Kid Icarus Uprising uses goofy humor, it also has a surprisingly dark undertone that makes it unique among Nintendo games as far as I know.

Dark undertone unique? Again, be more specific. If you mean dark themes, incorrect. Professor Layton (which isn't developed by Ninty but published) contains a lot of more depressing themes with humor, despite those being slightly more realistic. It's a bit inverted with the mixture, but still. Other games also have dark themes to them as well.

If you meant the exact sort of mixture, you'd be right. However, not too many games by Nintendo feature voice acting. The only other ones I can think of are Metroid: Other M (which was pretty bad) and the S&P series (VA isn't worth a damn IMO).

1. Medusa was serious and genuinely coveted revenge on Pit. I don't recall her ever pulling wisecracks.
2. During the battle with Dark Lord Gaol in Chapter 2, if you listen to Palutena telling Pit of Magnus' past, you'll learn that his child was killed by the Underworld Army, which explains why he was so frustrated with Palutena over why she didn't do more to help him.
3. Hades used dark humor when making up the story of killing a little girl's parents in a chariot accident in Chapter 10.
4. Viridi murdering hundreds of thousands of human soldiers with a single blast of her reset bomb during the surprisingly dark Chapter 11 actually left me shocked.
5. Hades wanted to upset the balance of life by wasting human souls on building up Underworld creatures that would use up a bunch of them, and whatever was left he would eat for eternity..

Most of those are pretty minor points and not as dark as stuff you'd find in Power Rangers. Though you'd have to elaborate on chapter 11.

How far did you get in that game? Basically, the opening sequence is a giant war. Footage for about 20 seconds plays while you shoot enemies. Suddenly you're pulled back, and everybody explodes. Viridi threw a "reset bomb" at them, designed to kill humans and anything man-made (or something like that).
You learn that a few (like, 8 out of thousands of) people survived.

Also I don't watch Power Rangers, but Kid Icarus did have some dark themes in it, moreso then other old kids shows (and typically those were handled in a more serious fashion then, say, Billy and Mandy or Invader Zim).

@CanisWolfred - If I may at least try to elaborate on that; at the very beginning of that chapter, there's a huge war between humans going on (fire arrows flying all over the place, nothing but war cries, etc.). About 30 seconds or so in; the sky shines, Palutena quickly takes Pit away and the war with the hundreds of thousands of humans is instantly silenced by Viridi's Reset Bomb explosion, murdering the majority.

Isn't that at least a little dark?
EDIT: @rayword45 beat me to it but you get my point, right?

Like I said, I would like an eShop return to the original Kid Icarus format (with newer elements from Uprising like customizable weapons and (to what would be your chagrin) voice acting, but I can't see that working for retail.

Reasons

1. It'd be too short for retail, and if it attempted to be that long (say, oh, more the 5-7 hours) I fear it'd be terribly drawn out.
2. The style of gameplay probably wouldn't be too mass marketable. It's one weird sidescroller/vertical scroller/mini-Metroidvania/scrolling shooter, changing pace a lot.

The original board was labeled KI Uprising fan board, this one wasn't due to ease, but I'd guess most here are fans of the new, as it's practically a new IP, sorry.

Without complaining about Uprising, how good is the original? I might give a shot one day.
Also between the NES game and the GB game, which one's more accessible?

I'm afraid a 2-D Kid Icarus with voice acting wouldn't work either way especially considering Nintendo's track record with that aspect.

Just for you.

Actually, Nintendo Outsourced most of its Voice Acting for Kid Icarus Uprising and Other M. We have yet to really see what Nintendo themselves could do when it comes to Voice Overs. But yeah, if they're gonna do a 2-D Sidescrolling KI, I'd prefer it if it was silent. I do agree that it should have 3D models, though.

Actually, I'm a bit sad that Nintendo has yet to capitalize on the possibilities of digital distribution when it comes to existing franchises. We've gotten a new Doctor Mario and Rumble Blast on Wiiware, and March of the Minis on DSiware, with a 3DSware one coming soon. Those all worked out great, so why dn't we see more of that? I get that Nintendo doesn't want to hog the spotlight, but I just don't see why we don't get a least a little more. Sony's got about 10 or so PSN games based on existing franchises, and plenty of other companies are putting out old franchises on digital formats. It's just frustrating to see Nintendo not utitlize things that way.

But I guess I can't complain too much, since we have gotten some Nice new IPs from Nintendo on the eShop.

Uprising is what the franchise needed. I didn't like the NES installment at all. I still need to give the Game Boy one a try.

I'd argue that objectively Kid Icarus had great voice acting. But how could I argue that's objective?

They managed to get some big names in terms of voice acting like Tara Strong and Cree Summer, and I'd argue that the majority agrees that the voice acting was handled better then expected for almost any video game, let alone a Nintendo game.

Of course expectations were ultra low after M:OM and Sin and Punishment (does that count?).
