Yeah as the title says .. ive just bought a 3ds xl monster hunter edition not even had it for one day and the screen is shaking like i can wiggle the top screen around. i have quite large hands and my 2 index fingers are at the top of the 3DS is ( where the cartridge is ect .. ) and i can move it with my fingers. why on earth is it doing this ? is there something wrong with the XL ? even more will it get worse over time ?

BS this is normal ...

Mine wobbles a little if I try to jiggle it around.
I'd imagine it's pretty normal and not anything to worry about unless it's really bad.

It wobbles, yes. I tested, and so does every laptop in my house (we have 4) so it's not uncommon in electronic devices.

@JogurtTheYogurt Sounds about the same as mine.
It's just normal, so don't worry too much about it unless it actually gets worse (which mine hasn't since I got it last year).

Don't feel bad Mr.Yogurt it's not your fault, it's just the way Nintendo makes things, it's not ment to last; and they can't guarantee it'll work even when bought fully new~

But it's not broken.
They just happened to design it so it wobbles a bit.
It works perfectly.

But it's not broken if it's normal...? It may have been a bit of extra give built into the design in order to avoid cracked hinges or other problems.

Think about it this way. In earthquake prone regions of the world (such as Japan or California), skyscrapers are purposefully designed to slide & wobble around in order to "ride" potential earthquakes, reducing the damage that would have been incured had the buildings been rigid.

It's a very similar concept at play here. Portables are naturally jostled around a lot (especially now that they have motion sensitive capabilities), and that could pose a danger to the fragile top screen of clamshell devices (such as the 3DS or a laptop) if handled improperly. It's purposefully built to feel loose, in order to "ride" any roughness it's bound to run into.

In other words, that wobble means it's working exactly as intended.

Ralizah

Yeah, you get used to it. It's designed to deal with the hinge breaking issue that plagued older Nintendo handhelds, I think.

My DSi did that same thing and it made me so mad. My 3DS XL has no problem what so ever, it stays perfectly in place and i've had it for about half a year now.
