seriously ? i knew about the top screen bumpers (i use xbox 360 pads on mine hahaha)
but that much difference in tewrm of picture quality, brightness?

i noticed something else too. the bottom section and the power button seem more solid on newer models than my good old ambassadro 3DS.

my power button is a bit loose (since i unboxed it, not over time), on newer models, it doesnt even move. Also, the section where there is the home/start/select buttons seems more resistant than my day one model. maybe im jsut seeing things on this one, but my older model, its a soft section that got marked easily.

i noticed all these from demo models i tried in many stores. they all seemed to have tighter buttons than mine.

Do you guys think these revisions were made to the Flame Red 3DS, since it was produced later than the Limited Zelda Edition 3DS?

I bought a flame red 3DS (pal country) in December last year and the bottom screen still leaves marks on the top screen. I need to use the foam insert between the 2 screens.

Might replace my 3ds with the purple one if it becomes available in my country.

That article forgot to mention the most glaring difference of all, which surprises me because it mentions differences that I hadn't even noticed.

The old models make this loud CLICK sound when you open and close them. The newer models (or at least the Zelda one) do not.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

My DS Lite clicked and the hinge eventually broke off. If your 3DS is clicking, get that thing replaced.

Well hopefully they continue to improve the current model in case I ever get another in the future.
No way I will though if the screen scratching issue is still present.
I'm really not sure if I'm going to like the next model or not, especially if they make it a lot bigger than the current model (like the DSi XL, yuck!), so there's a chance I could end up just buying another current model system to replace my launch system some day.

Wow, didn't know they made improvements.. I guess they are.

I've never had the screen scratching issue. Oddly..

The click when you open the console is normal. It does not bother me in the least.

My 3DS has always clicked when I open and close it. I think it was to stop the screen closing itself. It happened on my DS Lite where if I tilted it just right it just closed itself. I think it was just to fix that issue.

I wish I waited to get a 3DS now. My 3DS has a really weird hinge that creaks and makes cracking noises if I as much as move the 3DS around. I got mine last summer, so I don't know where it lies whether its one of the older or newer ones. Oh well. I'll just get the new 3DS in a few years.

Yeah, it kind of irritates me that my ambassador, day 1-purchased 3DS feels like a bulky, clunky, barely-put-together DS phat and my nephew's that he got for Christmas feels more slim and sleek like a DSi. He also doesn't have the screen scratch issues from the touchscreen touching the top screen that I have. Nintendo won't fix it for me either (even though its under warranty) because they say screen scratches are not covered, even though it's a design flaw in the earliest models.

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

grumblebuzzz

I only emailed them about it, but I'm gonna call now. Thanks.

Yes, that is the way to do it. I tried setting up a repair for mine through there website, but they wouldn't except it. Calling them did the trick. They instantly understood what I meant. I still have the clicky open and closing screen though, But they fixed the scratching issue nicely for me. I still keep a cloth between the screens though, just for some insurance.
