Ok let's just all agree that if you hate a game that means you have never played it, and this like Birdo this goes both ways ie if you hate Mario you haven't played it, if you hate COD you never played it

Exactly, but wasn't it you who said if one hated COD then they never played it?

I'm actually surprised Gameloft hasn't yet ported over the original Modern Combat or N.O.V.A. to the eShop.

Sure, the games are completely unoriginal, but I'm sure those of us itching for a 3DS FPS wouldn't mind at this point. I've played N.O.V.A. before, and the KI:U setup wold work great I think (It has a lot of straightforward hallway navigation from what I remember, so what little camera issues people had with KI:U's ground segments probably wouldn't come into play). Also, the game had 4 player online battles, which would be sweet on 3DS.

Gameloft had quite a bit of DSiWare offerings, but it seems like they have completely ignored eShop (they released Let's Golf 3D last summer, and have been absent from the eShop ever since).

I'm sorry for reviving this thread, but I was thinking about this and I can think of a way (not the best way, but a way) developers could make a First Person Shooter for the 3DS.

One issue, of course, is that the 3DS doesn't come with a dual analog option like it's competitor the PSVita. So developers have to resort to using the touchscreen like they did with the DS. I think I may have come up with several control schemes that will make...most people happy.

For all people who played Metroid Prime Hunters, I'm basing these ideas off of that control scheme.

Touch Screen (Right)
The first, and most obvious, option is the touchscreen aim option for right-handed users. In this control method, the Circle Pad would be used for movement. Push lightly to walk, hard to run. Since this is already difficult enough with touch aim, all the control methods will only have running. No sprinting and no tiring out. The touchscreen would be used to aim and have different options around the "aiming area" such as weapon swaps, zoom-in features, and whatever else developers want to add in. The D-pad would be used for quick select options ( like switching weapons without stopping aiming) or in-game commands (opening doors, picking up items, etc). And of course, L would be the shooting button.

Touch Screen (Left)
This method isn't one of my better ideas. It requires the use of the Circle Pad Pro. With it, lefties would use the touchscreen with their right hand and everything would be the same from the Right handed option except; A) The D-pad functions would be remapped to ABXY and B) The Left handed user could choose between using R or ZR as their shooting button.

Dual Mode
With the existence of the Circle Pad Pro, why not use it? It would have the basically the same controls as your average FPS on a home console. However, we can't add options just for those who want to shell out an extra $20, so the quick select options will be mapped "appropriately" across the ABXY, D-pad, touchscreen, and ZL/ZR buttons. For example, opening a door would be Up on the D-pad for Right Handed controls, but in Dual Mode, X opens the door whereas in both options, it pops up on the touch screen.

Gyro Aim
Many people prefer the Wii Pointer controls to a dual analog option, so I figured these people should have their option to aim in real life with the 3DS FPS. The quick select options would be available on the touchscreen, ABXY, and the D-pad.

Of course, the game would have online options and all the other things that make FPSes fun.

What do you think?

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

^I like the idea of combining all those to make the game customizable. Similar to Kid Icarus (except for the lack of CPP support for dual controls)

And yeah, I'd like an FPS, but it'd have to have a lot to be enjoyable, even when considering it's a portable.

I've gotta be honest, I think Nintendo gamers (talking strictly Ninty gamers here) have poor choice and poor taste when it comes to FPS games, seeing how they seem to be content with games like Conduit, Red Steel, ONSLAUGHT (Even for 10 bucks, that game is garbage). The 3DS has had some decent third-person shooters, and the FPS games on DS were good for the DS control limits.

Honestly if someone makes a 3DS FPS that's anywhere near as creative and awesome as Kid Icarus Uprising but with more online features, I'd buy that.

Rayword45, red steel 2 is a great game and Conduit 2 was a good game (7/10). Obviously RS2 is not 100% fps and there much better ones than conduit 2 (the conduit was mediocre) but it's not like there was much choice.

I do want a good fps for my 3ds, in fact I want two. One would be a run & gun (serious sam, duke nukem...) and the other something innovative and compelling like Dishonored (that would be amazing, sadly not gonna happen. Ever).

I think if Nintendo bought High Voltage and started supervising their games, we might get an action-shooter Metroid spin off that's just what both consoles need to compete with the likes of CoD and Halo. Valve might also be able to make some ports, though it's not likely because they didn't support the Wii either. Otherwise, we'll just have to wait for whatever the next Metroid game turns out to be. I thought RE4 was the best Shooter on the Wii because it didn't use the pointer for turning the camera, perhaps the 3DS can learn from this... then again I actually loved Metroid Hunters so I'd just like to see more of that.

SInce his comment was talking about how Ninty gamers over-rate the FPS games on the Wii, using review scores isn't exactly going to justify your case. Personally, the only FPS games that I've found to be really good are the COD ports (because they were already good games) and Red Steel 2, because it was actually a well-designed game.

Yes.
Yeah, when I think of COD, I just think 4 onwards. That's when the series started to really get great. I did like 2 though.

If a first person shooter was released, that's great for you fans, but I would not buy it.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
