I noticed that too. It's a very loud click. I try and be gentle but it still feels like I'm damaging the 3DS somehow, even though I know I'm not. It makes me uncomfortable; I wish the click was a little softer.
my old Lite never clicked quite like my 3DS does; it had a much tighter hinge on it. my 3DS clicks the same way as my DSi does. doesn't bother me, especially because it settles into position so nice that i know i'm not gonna push it all the way flat on accident. :3

[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
Isn't it just locking in place? I don't really see an issue with this...(Yet)
Locking in place a little too hard if you ask me.
Doesn't seem too bad to me. I mean it doesn't sound like a gun is going off or anything. I try to be as gently as possible anyway. I guess only time will tell to see if it this is gonna be a problem or not to most people.
