Topic: Is the six month old wound healing with holiday magic?

I don't mean the financial wound for Nintendo. I mean the lack of content for us, the fans, especially the early ambassadors. It's been six months or so since we set out grubby little hands on the 3DS, and though it burned us at first, are we starting to feel satisfied/hopeful/even?

I'm going to come out and say it right off the bat: I'm both happy and hopeful. Mario 3DS was the first game that really made me happy I owned this system. Every moment I played it I thought, "This is something that I will play, and will probably only ever get to play, on the 3DS." Because it was built for the system.

Then, as if Santa Claus read my list of hopeful releases, Metroid II, a game I never got a chance to play (because I became a Metroid fan in college a few years ago), released right as I went on vacation from work to take the wife and visit some family in Ohio. I was able to spend my evenings in Ohio committing xenocide on the Metroid species.

Finally, the day before I leave back to Florida, Mario Kart 7 releases and the online functionality I had been waiting for the 3DS gets fulfilled. I played online with two people from Japan and four from America, and the play was smooth and amazing.

And now Pushmo is out (waiting for the review from NLife) with its limitless puzzle making potential, I still need to pick up Cave Story 3DS, and Zen Pinball is on the way.

The 3DS is becoming the system I thought I was buying 6 months ago. And I'm really happy about it.

Now to fix that pesky battery life and my last major complaint will be settled.

Taking into consideration the original DS launch (with minimal software), I never really thought the 3DS was in any real danger. Sure it was a long drought and two remakes of N64 games didn't do any justice but for being 7, 8 months after release date we have some great games to play.

Just for you.

Nintendo are doing things right at the moment I think, release big titles more spread out during the year while releasing them more condensed in the holiday season. As long as the AAA titles to come arnt released too close to one another leaving a gap, it should be all good

I've been really happy with the 3DS so far. I bought it right after they announced the ambassador games for $200 - a pretty good deal, though if I had held out a little longer and really trolled stores, I probably could have gotten luckier. The NES titles weren't really worth it for me (the ones I really wanted for the most part I already had on Wii, and I could have gotten the rest for less than $30), but the GBA games will make it worth it. I'm sort of happy games have been trickling - I've had time to play my bulky DS library. I've gotten MK7, but 3D land will have to wait a bit. Maybe it'll be an X-mas gift.

Anyway, although it's gotten really cheap now, I'm glad I got it when I did - $50 dollars off the release price, ambassador games, and right around the OoT release. And great games out now!

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

If your wound is turning into a scar, how is it still an open wound, getting wider? That doesn't make any sense.

It's ok, Jump rarely makes sense. (j/k Jumpman )

Personally, i never felt "wounded" by the lackluster initial months of the 3DS. Sure, there weren't many AAA titles, but i've always had plenty of games to play and enjoy (lol, even if they've primarily been decades-old GB games), so no bother here.

Never was wounded in the first place. I got Super Street Fighter at launch, about a month and a half later I got Samurai Warriors Chronicles, which tied me over till I got Starfox. Then with all the other unneeded but awesome free things Nintendo threw in on the way, I never felt hurt. In fact it's the first time I've likely enjoyed a system more then my Gameboy Colour. How can I be hurt by a lack of games when I only ever get a few every year anyways? Besides I've enjoyed the social environment it's brought through streetpass and I've met alot of new people because of the streetpass group in my area, that other wise I may not have met. The system keeps on improving the longer I have it, the eshop cards made it finally, so I can catch up on games I missed out on from older systems. The system I bought on launch has out did it's self by this point. I never had any problems but I guess some people did, that's fine too, not all of the titles have been top notch. still I never saw a problem with mine and still see it as a 250$ piece of technology or worth even more now due to memories alone.

Thiiiiis. 3D Land was pretty good (the inevitable sequel will be way better), but MK7 is just all kinds of awesome. 24 hours after I bought it? Half that time was spent playing it. Even Monster Hunter ain't got nothing on that.

I'm super stoked for Kid Icarus, and with two Monster Hunter games, Mario Tennis (which'll likely have online play), and an awesome Fire Emblem game on the horizon... the 3DS may very well become my favorite console. It's like a portable GameCube 2.

I know. I just felt that this comment was particularly unintelligent.

I bought too many games around the launch period and then I did feel like I was waiting for more releases. In some ways it was a good thing because I was able to give the game I had bought the attention they had needed but now I think I will be a bit more selective with my purchases. I think if I had only bought a game or two each month I wouldnt have notice the lack of new software and been even more happy with my 3DS. Now the new games have arrived I am not going to rush into purchases as quickly as I have done... aside from eShop games, gotta get them day one. lol as if they are going to run out, duh.
...but I still get them day one.

Bought mine after the price drop so I didn't get any wound or hurt. So far I have

Super Mario 3D Land
Pushmo
Legend of Zelda Link's awakening DX
Metroid II : Return of Samus
Super Mario Land
Avenging Spirit
Mighty Flip Champs
Art Style: Aquia
Dark Void Zero
Ivy the Kiwi
Zelda Four Swords

So In the span of two months I've bought more content than even on my xbox.

Only thing Nintendo has now is to have sales.

WAT!

What wound? I bought one at launch, and bought Samurai Warriors, which kept me entertained all the way until Super Mario 3D Land. Yeah, I wish there were more games, but that happens over time. No one should expect a massive selection of games six months later.

I haven't gotten an eShop card yet, either, so I'll definitely have more stuff to play when I finally do.
