Topic: Is the new 2ds XL worth getting?

Not the smartest question but I do need more opinions.

I do not own a 3ds and I am thinking about getting the new 2ds XL. Is it worth it for me if I am getting it just for a handful of games? The latter being:

LoZ: Triforce Heroes.

LoZ: A Link Between Worlds.

Shovel Knight (I own both PC and Wii U versions).

Terraria.

Super Mario 3d Land.

In addition to very few VC games and the Binding of Isaac.

Side note, is Axiom Verge going to make it to the 3ds eshop?

If you want to play snes vc games or Zeno blade, then yes it would be good, but if you just want to play 3ds games and most virtual console, than the 2ds would be good since it's only 80 and comes with mk7. However If you want the best overall value, get the 2ds but if you want all the bells and whistles then go for the 2ds xl

If you want The Binding of Isaac, then you pretty much have to go with a "New" model since that game isn't available for the older models. This would also give you access to Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and the SNES VC games, to name a few options.

I'm not sure how into the 3D effect you are, but if you aren't bothered with using it (IMO some games are worth playing in 3D, but I'm not in the majority it seems), then the lower price point of the N2DS XL may be for you.

To my knowledge, Axiom Verge hasn't been announced for the 3DS. There are hopes that it will come to the Switch, but for now the only Nintendo system it can be found on is the Wii U.

Last but certainly not least, while you've listed many impressive games that you're interested in on the portable, there are many other worthy games in the 3DS library (especially RPGs), both retail and digital. Plus, don't forget that you can play the vast majority of the DS library on the system as well.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

I'm getting it since I want a 3DS (kinda) and love the look of it

In my opinion, NO, as the New 2DS XL is confirmed to have TN panels installed in it instead of the superior IPS display. TN is inferior to IPS if you haven't guessed it already.

I suggest simply buying the New 3DS XL and look for one with IPS panels.

Nintendo should really be ashamed of themselves. It's 2017 and they're still using old mediocre displays.

My opinion only , but playing Super Mario land and Link Between World in 2d is a shame . Not to mention dozens and dozens of other games . I really think the new 2ds Xl is sharp from a design standpoint , but to me the 3d is an integral part in playing and enjoying the games . Even in games that It is not implemented as well as it could be , it still adds so much to the experience . I hope you enjoy your new system .. whichever you choose !

If U don`t own ANY 3ds or 2ds - don`t think - just buy it !
I`ve got 3ds xl,New 3ds xl, 3ds x2 and I really don`t use 3d slider anymore - it`s not needed for gaming which is cool by the way.

The New 2DS XL might have sighax/Boot9Strap patched since it is a new hardware revision.

I would not get it for hax since it is likely to come at 11.4 and possibly fix those hardware exploits.
