@brewsky - You forgot we got Sega Gamegear and I think there is another sega system, not sure though.
Are any of the Sega game gear games great though?
Sonic Triple Trouble, G.G. Shinobi, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, Dragon Crystal, Sonic 1... I admit there haven't been a lot of them but you're writing yourself off if you think they're all bad.
Also, Turbograf-x games were slated to appear. They're out in Japan but licencing is fiddly at the moment. We also wished for Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Colour and Wonderswan, but I doubt those are any more likely to happen than GBA
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
Perhaps they feel that having GBA titles on the Wii U will attract more users? I think they'd be wrong of course, and I doubt that's their reasoning, but I s'pose it's possible.
No, that's entirely the reason. Why else would Nintendo be bringing DS games to the Wii U? Why would they not bring GBA games to the 3DS? Why would they not bring SNES games to the 3DS?
To which Nintendo is asking themselves: Why give the 3DS another great feature when it's already so great, when we can give it to the struggling Wii U?
They are are trying to get more people to buy the Wii U through any means possible. They're trying to win back their audience. And they're trying to get their 3DS audience good reason to buy the Wii U.
If only they actually had the sense to put more effort into making retail games for the Wii U that would come out around now. I wouldn't buy a Wii U for the VC, no matter how large it is. Heck, I own a Wii U and I wont be buying any GBA games on it. After all these years I didn't wait to downgrade to a non portable system to play them again - I'm waiting for a 3DS release to buy a lot of them.

I feel the same.
I don't know. With the Wii U at a pitiful ~6 million units sold ( after a year and a half), and the 3DS at a whopping ~44 million sold (compared to the Vita's ~8 million), if it were me, I'd just cut my losses with the Wii U and focus on making the 3DS an even better gaming experience than it already is (like putting older handhelds games on it, rather than on a home console) and continue dominating the handheld market. Then maybe a few years down the line maybe return to a home console if you feel you're ready for it. I feel like that ship has already sailed, and it's been "Dreamcasted". Too little too late. They should have LAUNCHED with titles that are upcoming (or SHOULD be upcoming if they were being made) like SSB, MK8, LoZ, F-Zer0, Star Fox, Metroid, etc. Those games are system sellers (especially if they turned out well made). What's the closest big release? Mario KArt 8 in May? Then there's SSB, Bayonetta 2, and the next Xeno Saga game, all coming out Gods know when. The Wii U will most likely be 2+ years old by the time all of those have released. Nintendo is really going to need to pull a miracle of a Nintendo Direct out of their rear and/or absolutely kill it at this years E3 if they have any plans to sell more units.
Personally, I'm on the verge of selling my Wii U (I think it's ~$100 from Gamestop). I absolutely LOVE my 3DS and couldn't imagine parting with it, but my Wii U is almost a paperweight. It was a Netflix machine until I got tired of how frellin' awful the Netflix app is on it compared to any other one I have. Now it just sits until I get the urge to play Xenoblade or the Metroid Prime Trilogy (which I could do with my Wii anyways). So at this point I figure, why not sell the hunk of junk?
They keep making ridiculous decisions. "Oh! Let's put handheld titles on our home console that's doing terribly rather than our handheld console that's making bank!" Are they REALLY that out of touch with reality? It'll probably be hard enough to sell these older handheld titles, what with being able to use emulation on your phone now, but couple that with putting them on a system next to no one owns is absolutely crazy. Not to mention the $8 price tag. I mean sure, $8 isn't A LOT and the games are good, but for digital versions of 10+ year old games? Don't see many going for that. Is it Iwata that gets to make these calls, cause if so, I'd like to lay a bag of flaming doggy doo on his door step.

I guess I did end up ranting.
I didn't see Wonderful 101 or Rayman Legends when I skimmed this, so you lose by default. Good day sir.

And this is why I think Nintendo is grossly overestimating the effect that WiiU-exclusive GBA games are going to have on system sales. Nobody's buying a new console to play old handheld games. You know what would sell Wii U systems? New Wii U games.
Honestly, there really isn't much that I would want for the GBA. The only games that I want are.
1.Metroid Fusion
2.Metroid Zero Mission
3.Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
4.Golden Sun
5.Golden Sun : The lost age
6.Sonic Advance 3
7.F-Zero Maximum Velocity
8.Advance Wars
That's pretty much it. Infact I can't seem to find games on the GBC/GB that I would want to get besides the Super Mario Land Trilogy, Wario Land Trilogy, Metroid 2, Kirby series and Kid Icarus.
I wonder if anyone is interviewing Nintendo about porting GBA on Wii U instead of 3DS. The fact that they are porting GBA on Wii U is already an insult because it is telling people visually how underpowered the system is. If GameCube games were ported instead, that would actually give them an impression. I can't believe that Nintendo after saying that they want to enrich the Virtual Console, they are still failing in that process. How is it so hard to emulate an old game to a system? If I were at Nintendo, I could easily get myself an emulator that is used on PC's and port that on the system rather than just waiting for the game to be released on the Virtual Console after such a long time.
Even if Nintendo manages to port Mother 3 on the Wii U, that still will be an insult because it was a game designed for a PORTABLE SYSTEM!!!!!! Nobody wants the idea of playing portable games on a console unless its not something that is exclusive. I can play GBA games anywhere and its optional if I want to play my games on the big screen.
Now I have to force myself to get the Metroid Fusion cartridge pak instead of buying the Wii U........why didn't I undertand how awesome Metroid is?!?!?!
