Topic: Is pokemon soulsilver on the new 3ds XL mostly in 2d or 3d?

Since it is a DS game (not a 3DS game), it displays the game in 2D only.

In terms of graphics, the overword is rendered with 3D polygons (note, this is not the same kind of 3D you can see pop out of the screen), with characters and battles using 2D sprites.

so if i put the 3d switch all the way up it wouldnt make a difference?

Nope.

Any game that say only "DS" or "DSi" on the label can only be played in 2D, regardless of your system or the position of the 3D slider.

Past gen games (DS and DSi games) aren't compatible with the 3DS and New 3DS' 3D effect. Only 3DS and New 3DS games can be in 3D.
