3D Land is not the same as 3D World but I'd have to say 3D Land is definitely the lesser version. There's less powerups, the challenge worlds aren't as difficult as the 3D World ones, and the mystery houses aren't nearly as good (by a wide margin). Either way, 3D Land is a decent game but 3D World is like a much better refined version.

Sequel is a bad term to use. Sequels generally don't mean anything in the Mario series as a whole.

Yeah but they're both so similar in terms of gameplay, level design, and title, so I see it as a sequel.

No, both are entirely different games with the only real similarities being that they're 2D platformers.

The levels and worlds are different, the characters are very different, the story is different, the items and power ups are different, the bosses are different, the music is different... pretty much everything is entirely different between 3D Land and 3D World.

Super Mario 3D World is the successor/follow-up to Super Mario 3D Land. They are both completely different games, although they are similar in terms of gameplay. Super Mario 3D World is superior to 3D Land, but 3D Land is still good for portable play.

@CM30 Um, they're not 2D platformers. They have characteristics of a 2D platformer, but they are truly 3D platformers. You're right about everything else, though.

Recently I've been playing Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, Link's Awakening, and Luigi's Mansion 3. Also replaying Rayman Legends and trying to get better at Smash Ultimate
