I don't really know if I can like Kid Icarus cause well I don't know If I'll like the game. I saw the trailers and the way that you play in uprising worries me a lot like is the game intense and something that's unbalanced? Does uprising borrow elements from the previous games that requires me to play the previous games (no spoilers)?

Kid Icarus is the only Nintendo franchise that I'm not sure its for me. I know its platformer and I love platform games but I don't know.....should I try the entire series out?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

The first game was rather brutal, but satisfying. Kid Icarus uprising is rather fun and if you don't like a game that doesn't take itself seriously. Myths and Monsters was a decent game and it is on the 3DS Virtual console.

Three games.

Big series.

Might need to take some time with these games.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

Uprising is not a platform game. The first part of every level is an on-rails shooter and the second is 3rd person shooter. It's not difficult or it's insanely difficult, all depending on the 0-9 scale of difficulty younset before you start the level. So you can breeze through the game or challenge yourself, whichever you want.

As for the earlier games, yeah those are platformers, and hard ones at that

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I would say Uprising is more fun if you've already played the NES and GB games since it has quite a few references to 'em. I wouldn't say they're important to the story though.
If you've played the original Metroid imagine that with much less exploration and a different setting and you've basically got the 2D Kid Icarus games.

I'll just copy and paste what I posted in the 3DS recommendations thread (where you already asked this question):

Kid Icarus: Uprising, from a gameplay standpoint, is completely different from its predecessors. Levels are typically broken up into two segments: air battles and land battles. Air battles play similar to Star Fox, while land battles play more like a third-person shooter (but unlike say, Uncharted, this game doesn't use a cover system). It's also a game that is as difficult as you want it to be. You see, defeating enemies gives you hearts (currency in this game), but you can bet hearts to play on higher difficulties (with 9.0 being the highest). If you're having trouble beating a level on a specific difficulty, you can just lower it to something more manageable (however, the game automatically lowers the difficulty level if you die). It's a fantastic game, with the only big drawback being that some people found the controls too uncomfortable to get used to (I'm left handed and was able to enjoy the game, so I'd say people exaggerated about the controls).

Gameplay wise there's nothing it would help to play in the first two games. And the difficulty can be adusted from .1 to 9 (I'm pretty sure it goes that low). So difficultly won't be an issue. I personally reccomend you get it, it's great fun, with a great story that's hilarious. (An entertaining story, not a dramatic one.)

Guys I'm having the same dilemma. I always wanted to get this game but it is never available locally. The prices on amazon is sky high as well... So right now it's on sale on eshop for 25 bucks. My question is, is it worth it? Keep in mind that I could resell the physical game and I will be stuck with the digital version forever. Will be game be worth 25 bucks of fun? Your opinions and thoughts are most appreciated.

Getting the digital version means you won't have the stand or AR cards that come with the physical version. The AR cards don't add much, but the stand might help if you're having trouble getting used to the controls. The stand helps, but I wouldn't say it's necessary to enjoy the game and for $25 the game is most certainly worth it (the main story isn't that long, but the game has a ton of replayability).

Uprising is great if you can adjust to the control scheme. I couldn't, so I never got much further than just completing the main story. The game has a TON of replay value, though, and very smooth online gameplay.
