I was wondering what the "Fes" in RPG Maker Fes stood for.

The app is out already and I can't wait to create my own levels, just a few more days I guess. One of the games I'm most excited for on the 3ds this year

@Meowpheel Speaking of thread titles, should we rename this thread when the game comes out, start a new one, or (my least favorite option) leave it as is? The title was appropriate when the announcement first came out, but it's going to irk me in a few days. Maybe I'll just have to deal with it.

@GoldenGamer88 Funny thing actually; on Steam, MV is actually less expensive than Fes atm, at least in $. And yeah, I started with VX Ace and there was a lot learning, even as someone with experience in game creation. The most complicated thing with MV, I'd say, is that you have dozens of information slots that need to be filled out; monsters, characters, map, animations, status effects, items, story, etc. And the program says "Start wherever you want! Do whatever you want!", and that is usually pretty overwhelming. You just gotta stick with it for a while and you'll eventually figure it out, but it's definitely a time commitment.

I'm sure though, if you get the hang of Fes the transition to MV will be way easier. Anyway, best of luck if you decide to try either/both of them!

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

Ya this is neat, I would like to make my own RPG's, but not too sure about spending $60 on it (love exchange rates), maybe one day, but will look forward to some good RPG's, maybe someone should make another NL RPG ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Does anyone have an Idea how much the DLC packs are going to cost for RPGMaker?

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

@nf_2 I don't think there is a catch to the RPGMaker Player but for the people making the games will need to download different texture packs at an extra cost. I had read a review of the game somewhere that the 5 texture packs were going to be included in the port but I guess not. I got the game a few days ago and have felt that I'm working with very minimal options for graphics.

So do you think you could make a runefactory type of game with RPGMaker on 3ds?

I'm currently working on a satirical/comedy game where you play a big sister who has taken it upon herself to prevent her naïve younger sister from marrying her sleazy ex-boyfriend from her high school years. The climax of the game will take place at the wedding reception. It's still very early in development, and I have every intention of exhausting the amount of space available to me, so that the RPG is jam-packed with as much content as the software will allow (though there probably won't be a great variety of monsters simply due to the nature of the storyline). The aim is for this to be a silly and fun tribute to some of the quirkier elements of JRPGs, and the ridiculousness of Western soap operas.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing due to the lack of a tutorial, but I'm currently working on maps and resources. I've made very little progress so far, but I've somehow managed to pour over 5 hours into this.

Oh if you want to do a segment with fantasy monsters and stuff, do like Dumbo and get the character drunk.

That or a dream sequence, to keep the E rating.

That's a good suggestion, but the game already contains some supernatural (as opposed to fantastical) elements, so there will be no need for drug trips or anything of the sort as the supernatural are manifest in the in-game universe. One of the final bosses will be the Antichrist (whoops, spoiler alert ), and there is an enemy called the "Clergyman", who will usually be accompanied with creatures from Abrahamic traditions. It certainly won't be the most child-friendly of games (I'm thinking more PG/T/12 territory) based on the story, but I hope that players will feel rewarded for persisting with what will fast escalate into a completely ridiculous story bursting with in-jokes, cultural references, easter eggs aplenty and other fun stuff.

Of course it is far too early to tell whether the game will actually live up to all of that.
