@Jumbif, I disagree there, PC is not focusing on anything but it is by far the best gaming platform (while also the most expensive). Personally I hate iPods/Pads and similars, but I must admit their potential is quite big, you can already dock them on a full keyboard while connecting them to an HD TV, sooner or later you will have joysticks and joypads for them too, even docking gaming platforms similar to WiiU controller, etc.

@Jumbif Not sure if your referring to my comment... but I'm not trying to start a confrontation or anything with Mandoble, but his 3DS vs. iPad 2 doesn't make sense to me. It's like rivalling a Bugatti Veyron against a Nissan Micra in a drag race. The Bugatti will always win...
The 3DS is great for playing games and doing some slight multitasking at the same time, but comparing it to iOS is just weird... iOS, as Jumbif said, is a jack of all trades but a master of none.

Biggest comparative shortcoming with the 3DS is its lack of media-friendliness. Even though it plays music, it can't multitask (play music behind other things) and it can't watch videos either, barring trailers Nintendo made and distributed. Not only can the iPhone do these things, but it does them in under a second in literally every case. The App Store is nice and there are some decent deals there, but I'd have to echo the "gaming on 3DS is better" sentiment, even if the affordability factor is way in iOS's favor. Being able to whip out my phone and be listening to music in 2 seconds is great though, and being able to switch from music to watching an episode of Party Down in under a second is just so unbelievably convenient. If I had an Android without stupid iTunes one-PC lockout that was as quick to use as iOS, I'd be the happiest man on the planet.

I don't want to get into the 'this is better than that' argument but I do agree that the 3DS is a far better investment than any iOS device be it the iPod or the iPad. However this is how I look at the whole thing.
(iOS beats traditional cell phone games, 3DS beats iOS and PSVita beats 3DS)

When I started this convo. I was trying to talk more on the side of software.( i.e. dead space, Battlefield 2, RE4, COD zombies, Angry Birds) I was asking why can't Nintendo have big time devlopers make short mini-games like that for the 3DS. I'm loving all the old GB games, but I really want to see some new 3rd party mini's. Hell, I would like to see more 3rd party 3DS games rated over a 7.

I dislike all the minigame madness Apple's App Store has begun. I want to genuine games and not shovel misery like Plant vs Zombies and Zombie Apocalypse.

Mini games? Really? I'll meet you half way here... most of the games on WiiWare and DSiWare, to me, feel like "mini games", not usually very long and can keep you busy for a little while.
But I don't want mini game compilations running a muck on the eShop, I want some proper games not just 5-minute wonders.

Well I'm saying that I'm sick of games like Plants vs Zombies, Angry Birds and Drop the Chicken. I believe in REAL games which is why I advocate the PSVita and 3DS so much more than any iOS. I like genuine games like Dragon Nest, Rift, Legend of Zelda, Ratchet and Clank, Islands of Wakfu, Super Mario Galaxy and ModNation Racers and not flash player style games like in the iOS.

@tokyored While I can easily agree that fleshed out retail games are better than angry birds, I think you're being incredibly harsh towards plants vs zombies there calling it shovelware. I can spend many very good gaming hours playing a tower defense game like that or My life as a Darklord or Crystal Defenders or Swords and Soldiers. that's good stuff.

Oh, I'm truly sorry. I guess I should't bash it like that. I played it but it didn't appeal to me. I don't want to offend those who enjoy it though. Again, I'm sorry. I just like games that are more serious I guess. I do enjoy iOS games like Samurai Girl and Zenonia though.
