Topic: Internet service not available in my region?

I bought the 3DS today, after saving money for four months... I paid 230 Euros, plus 50 Euros for Street Fighter IV 3D; The only reason for me buying this console, because of its Internet matches...
And, as the topic suggests, as soon as I choose to play a match over the Internet, I get the message "The service is not available in your region."

How, Nintendo, HOW CAN THAT BE!?
The fact that I live in Macedonia didn't stop you in making the DS titles playable (Mario Kart, Call of Duty) over the Internet.
I guess that would also mean no Mario Kart 7 and other multiplayer titles for me.
Thanks, guys, you're the greatest...

Pro Tip: Never get a handheld or console in general for just internet capabilities.

Especially 3DS.

What komic said.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

That's too bad. Not really sure what to tell you. :/

It may be a Capcom-only thing though if SSF4's online is through their own servers. They blocked cross-region multiplayer in Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, but Nintendo's games like Mario Kart have always supported online multiplayer between different regions like NA and EU and JP, so you might have more luck with MK7.

Ok I dont see how this is Nintendo's fault they dont control the internet companies. If you dont get internet in your region than might it be that there is no ISP in your region .

Personally I have to agree with the others if you just bough the 3DS for the internet capabilities without knowing if you have internet in that area than I cant really give you sympathy.

Well, I had no problems with multiplayer gaming using the DSLite... Why would they change that?
Also, the (3)DS support and feedback in Macedonia is almost none...
I wouldn't have been able to find out such facts.

PS. I think it is Nintendo's fault, as it gives me the same message for its E-shop...

Just so you know, I don't know if any Nintendo games have ever supported online multiplayer in Macedonia, haha. It's definitely a risk until someone confirms it for you. You could always try contacting Nintendo to make sure. :3

The DS titles did (Mario Kart DS, Zelda...).

Aha. I'd say there's a fairly good chance Nintendo's titles will work online then. :3

Tasuki's right though — contact Nintendo to make sure.

Are you sure your copy is region appropriate? From what I heard some games are region free but their internet functions are not.

I found a really wacky solution to the whole situation; I updated my personal profile on the console, by switching the region to United Kingdom (before that I set it to Macedonia). The Eshop is working now, and I played SFIV online without a problem...
Crazy stuff.

I just tried playing an internet match on SF4 on my home Wi-Fi and man the lag was horrible, but it was still cool being able to do it.
