Topic: Interest in Skyward Sword on New 3DS?

The upcoming re-release of Majora's Mask got me thinking: would people be interested in Skyward Sword being released on the 3DS/New 3DS? I know Ocarina of Time and now Majora's Mask got nice graphical facelifts on the new hardware, but I'm thinking of the opportunity to play Skyward Sword with traditional controls. Would that appeal to people, or were the motion controls integral to the Skyward Sword experience?

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

I think we've had enough Zelda remakes for the time being. SS isn't even close to the top of my list of remakes, though. It's the most recent console Zelda!

The motion controls were integral to the game, as well.

"You know what we need? More Zelda remakes!"

"You know what would make sense to remake for 3DS? The Zelda game that was entirely focused on motion controls!"

Both available on current gen hardware in great quantity, so equally useless to remake.

But we still have Colosseum and XD and those are Gen 3.

Totally forgot about those.

I wonder if they'll come before or after the Super Mario Sunshine remake.

Wasn't compelled to finish it on the Wii, so I doubt I'd give it another go on 3DS.

How will it work? You have to swing around your 3DS,to swing the sword ingame?Which sounds fun,but dumb at the same time.

That game came out in 2011, why don't we wait until 2019 before we start asking for a remake.

But you can't play the good version of TP on the Wii U. But honestly, Nintendo should save that for their next console to give time for Zelda U to breathe. Btw, you could play Red/Blue/Green on the GBA, but those were remade for the GBA anyways.

I had a dream about it, but yeah...I'm sure we're done with Zelda remakes. Only reason Majora's Mask happened is because it's a sequel from the same system and we all kinda saw it coming anyways. I can't see Skyward working well on the 3DS anyways.

The fact that you asked this makes this kinda pointless. The game was built around the motion controls

This. I think we'll see Twilight Princess on the eshop but that's it for now. Sinnoh remakes should wait for the next gen handheld.

Yeah no. Skyward Sword was built around the control scheme. The game's combat would be boring as balls with traditional combat.

Like, what enemy in SS would be tough with traditional combat?

Those games look fine, they don't need a remake. If anything we need a new actual console pokemon RPG. Preferably one that sets fire to the '8 gyms, the elite 4' structure.

To remake Skyward Sword, presumably without the wiimote required, you would need to totally redo the combat system and all of the enemy AI. And to make that game even worth remaking you would have to muck about with the side quest and world structure. At that point, why not just make a new Zelda game?

I don't think Skyward Sword will ever be remade, I just don't see the point.

The only way I could see them remaking Skyward is by having sword controls being touch screen-based.

Kinda like how Diablo was built around point and click controls? Last time I checked Diablo 3 seems to be doing just fine on consoles. If every other Zelda game functions just fine with traditional controls I don't see why this game couldn't be retooled so that it plays like them. I know plenty of people never played Skyward Sword specifically because they didn't want to play an entirely motion controlled Zelda game.

What they all said!
Twilight princess would work though.
(It's not going to happen though, we'll have had about 4 Zeldas in the space of 3 years by christmas. That's probably enough. We really don't want them going with the CoD and Assassin's Creed approach. It completely devalues the series.)

No, no, no. If the Wind Waker got a console remaster then Twilight Princess definitely needs the same treatment. That art style especially needs a lot of room to flex. We're trying to be smart, like WWHD, not dumb, like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. You want to upgrade, now downgrade.
