I think the design is based on the love plus game Konami is releasing for 3DS in Japan.

What kind of game will it be

It's a special edition 3DS that will tie in with the release of Love Plus 3DS in Japan.

Love Plus is a surprisingly classy and intelligent dating game. It'll never be released in the west, but it's a game that was on display when I went to an interactive art exhibition when I was in Japan a few years back.

I'm so jealous. O: I've always wanted to visit Japan. I heard it's really hard to get around if you don't speak the language or have a tour guide, so I'm scared.

getting around japan (or at least tokyo) isn't really that hard if you don't speak japanese. just get an english subway map to find your way. many hotels have english speaking people, and almost everyone has at least rudimentary english ability because its a required subject in school there. also, almost every restaurant has a picture menu, so if you had to, you could just point to what you want.
