Topic: Ideas for a revised 3DS

It could just be the wi fi spots around here are weird or something, although there were at least 5 people in Starbucks surfing the web on their laptops while I tried, in vain, to get online with my 3DS.

Not to mention bigger screens = even more battery power drainage.
The 3DS needs more battery usage like it needs the black screen of death.

Ok, this will sound like nitpicking but I'd like to have the option to turn off the stupid clicking shutter noise everytime you take a picture. It gives the option of dog bark, cat, random and "off" but off still plays the stupid, fake shutter click noise EVEN with the volume all the way down! Makes candid pictures impossible. So annoying. yeah, and I agree about the stylus placement but it doesn't bother me that much.

They made the camera shutter sound loud on purpose. That way little perverts can't go around taking upskirt pictures without being noticed. It is a Nintendo system after all. I'm pretty sure they even have laws about that in some places.
The shutter sound is required to be loud on most camera devices now a days.

oh, I guess that makes sense from a toymakers perspective. Most digital camera have the option of turning that sound off and I do. I hate posed pictures where people give dopey smiles or act all self conscious. Anyway, you're right sounds like that won't change.

Moving the placement of the stylus, bettering the sweet spot and having the camera at least be 2 MP is fine. Oh, and better battery life (at least 12 hours of gameplay with 3DS games).

move the styles to the right hand side next to the communications switch please!
make all the camera's 3.0 megapixles
make it slimer and lighter
add NVIDIA TEGRA 2 and a duel core cpu deticating 1 gigahertz per each core
make the bottom buttons less pixelated and more like mac os x icons
better notification system like xbox live
a second analog stick on the right hand side but make it a nub for easy access to the a,b,x,y buttons
make both screens a little taller
make the clamshell design have a magnet near the rear of the top and bottom screen for safe travel like mac book line

and oh yea better battery

When the inevitable 3DS redesign comes out in 2-3 years, these are the things I want to see improved:

-Move the stylus to the same location its at on the DS lite, DSi, and DSi XL
-Make it so that the rim around the touch screen doesn't touch the 3D screen when closed
-Make the 3D viewing angle wider. Even if only slightly
-Move the headphone jack in a less awkward place than smack dab in the middle. Maybe move it back where the DSi had it
-Make the whole design slimmer and lighter. Maybe not as obtuse and weird looking.
-Move the mic more toward the middle of the system so it picks up the player easier.

A lot of these are nit picky. Honestly, the 3DS is already one of the greatest handhelds I've ever played. It just has a few odd design choices that if ironed out, would really bring the system to the next level.

EDIT: Wow! I forgot the single biggest one: BATTERY LIFE! We need better battery life! This one is NOT nit picky and simply MUST be improved by at least double in the next 3DS iteration!

Do the McDonald and other wi-fi not work because you can't see the user agreement connecting?

I was also wondering if this time around if you can connect to a Ad-Hoc network as the DSi did not support them.

im pretty shure McDonalds requires a functioning internet browser to accept to the terms. you did it on dsi why not 3DS? besides may is not far behind for when the 3DS browser comes out

For those who want dual analog controls, I think using the stylus to adjust the camera in 3D games would work fine, just as it worked fine for FPSs on the DS.

It won't be very considerate for lefties, however.

I think the chances of another analog stick is very slim until the next generation jump. In other words, not for another good 6 or 7 years. If they added a second analog stick to the hypothetical 3DS lite, any game using it would alienate those with the first 3DS.

Stronger hinge joint. By far. I've had mine for well under a weak yet my top screen already wobbles...It's been opened/shut maybe 50 times total. Given how easy it is for the 3d effect to get lost when the screen moves even the slightest bit, this has already made play more difficult.

Ditto, it has spoiled me too. I wish they made in bigger since it the next one up from DSi XL..Of coarse not bigger than the XL. LOL

There's supposed to be a bit of wobble, though it should hold in open place pretty firmly.

Also, as mentioned by others, I wouldn't complain about a bigger 'sweet spot.' But I don't think it's possible to expand the 'sweet spot' for the 3D, just because it relies on two images going to our eyes separately. Unless we could also adjust the 3D not just in strength, but in focus (moving the twin images closer/further apart).

Email Nintendo. That's what I did. The guy said he will MAKE SURE the 'battery' suggestion is forwarded to the appropriate departments and that if there is any news on a NEW battery option that it will be posted on the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo website.

I'm guessing the MORE people share their thoughts on the 3DS' battery to them directly, the better chances we'll see an official solution.
