It looks really cool, but it also looks like a game that will get overlooked by many gamers at launch. If it does well, it could potentially start a new series for Nintendo. I also like when Nintendo makes new IPs and by buying this game consumers would be encouraging Nintendo to make new kinds of games. Depending on how well it does, the Steel Diver "series" could end up like Pikmin or like Luigi's Mansion.

WOW you don't have any high expectations, do you? (P.S. Assassin's Creed isn't an FPS.)
As for my opinion, I don't really see it happening. Nintendo isn't really playing its cards right (or at least isn't showing) to make the game something of a big franchise. I'd love to see the game become a new franchise, but logistically it doesn't look like that will happen.

Just because people didn't turn out in droves to buy a generic FPS doesn't mean Wii gamers don't like the genre, it might just mean they don't like generic games.
Steel Diver is an interesting game. But from looking at it- it seems like just a tech demo to me. I could be wrong; I don't know much of anything about the title other than it was shown as a tech demo for the DS way back in 2004 at E3. I do commend it using the gyroscope to locate enemy ships.
Just because it looks like a tech demo to me doesn't mean I don't think it wouldn't be any fun. It's just there are other games I want over this. If I do hear some good things about it: or Nintendo even puts demos on the eShop to try games and I happen to dig it, then I will look into getting it.
I wanted Mad World, LKS, Muramasa, Klonoa, TvC, and ExciteBots to sell well but yeah I want Steel Diver to do well also

I really hope that Steel Diver does well too; however, from the trailers that I have seen, I don't really feel compelled to spend 40 bucks on it... I love the concept and the innovative features of the game, but visually, I am not that impressed. Especially the way they designed the look of the controls on the touch screen. I'm purely basing this judgement on the trailers, so who knows? I might change my mind after actually playing it .
I hope it sells well also, not because I particularly like the game or how its shaping up, but because I want Nintendo to go back to creating more original IP's like back in the NES days. While I really like most of Nintendo's sequels, it would be nice to have something new (plus it would give us more characters to choose from in upcoming installments of Smash Brothers lol ).
I'm trying to choose between this game and Pilotwings. Has anyone played either games who could tell me which one is better?

I'm really disappointed with the launch games in general, but I guess Pilotwings looks interesting; not really interested in Steel Diver. I hope some of the bigger named titles are released for the system soon after it is released.
It'll probably do poorly. Nintendo may not be known for new IPs, but part of it is because their fan base rarely buys New IPs on the rare occasions that they do start one. Though I'd love to be proven wrong in this case.
It looks really boring to me. They just haven't really shown any footage of it that makes it look remotely worth $40 to me, especially when I look at the rest of the games that will be coming out on the 3DS.

This. Sorry, but there are too many other games coming out that I need to save my money for. I'm sure many others will think like me on this, and if so, then this game won't sell very well.
Personally, if I were to get a 3DS, it would be towards the top of my list. It reminds of me of the SNES game, Hunt for the Red October, which was a LOT of fun. But, honestly, guys, if you're wanting to encourage things like this coming out, and are hoping it sells well, but aren't willing to invest in TRYING IT OUT, then your point is moot. Machu is the first person on this thread to express any real interest in the game, and he's the one who's played it. So they haven't marketed it well, but how many fantastic Wii or DS games can you think of in that category? NMH and NMH2, Little King's Story, MadWorld, 999 on DS... tons of others. Think about it, though, this is a Nintendo forum in which all but one person has said they will not buy the game, but hope it does well, but honestly, guys, that doesn't bode well. I'd say NL is a pretty solid poll group for a game like this and so far, these projected sales figures are ugly. If you want to encourage Nintendo to put out more original stuff, saying, "I'm just gonna hope this thing sells well without me," ISN'T going to work.
