How sturdy Is the 3DS? I never made It fall down and I won't do that. I also don't ask you to let It fall down either but maybe someone has any experience how you accidentally dropped your 3DS?

I once dropped my 3DS a couple of metres onto concrete, it was OK, nothing broken, just a few scratches and marks, only cosmetic. I think the 3DS is very sturdy, not sure on the XL, but it will probably be the same.

I once dropped it down a flight of concrete stares and it was fine, but it also decided to trip a guy, kill a cat, and blow up a car. (the last three parts where not actually true)

I've definitely dropped it a bunch of times, and as a result the outside is covered in chips and scratches. As far as I can tell, though, the system itself still works fine. I don't recommend dropping it or anything, but so far it's been sturdy enough to withstand my clumsiness.

I'd say the single bodied (unlike the sp) gameboys were the sturdiest Nintendo systems, but I'd also say my 3ds is somewhere between the DS and DSi's sturdiness. Overall, pretty well built for impact, but not to the point where you can get too careless.

I've dropped my 3DS a lot of times. A few of those on pavement and it still works well.

I've chipped the back of a 3DS dropping it, but nothing hurt the hardware itself. I did, however, recently have to buy a new 3DS replacing one I believe (Meaning, I'm not completely sure) to have been broken from opening and closing it too vigorously, if that matters to anyone.

It's not the impenetrable brick that the original GB was, but my XL has come away from some really nasty falls pretty much unscathed.

Same for my 3DS XL... A few scratches but all work well like if nothings happen... When I drop it (by mistake) the 3DS XL make a glass broken sound but everythings was fine (I even test the camera to be sure).

Sorry if my english isn't good... At least I try :-)

Lol talk of how sturdy the Game Boy is always reminds me of the story of this Gameboy surviving the Gulf War in Nintendo Power.

I've seen one in Niagara (Ontario) that was almost like that and still work... It was strange... Don't think the 3DS (or 3DS XL) is that sturdy...

Why won't you die?!

I dropped my original 3DS on concrete before from around waist height, no scratches, dents or marks. I'm pretty sure it thought "nope, not today floor!" I also whacked it into a door and nothing happened, a slight mark, but hardly noticeable.

My XL fell on to my wooden floor from knee height, it was sitting on arm chair and nothing happened.

So far I'd say they're both quite reliable, but nothing like the brick hard Gameboy above. That thing could probably survive a nuclear holocaust... or Armageddon.

I'm careful with my stuff, but my brother isn't.
He dropped my regular 3DS(when I had it) countless times on tile, wood, and concrete. The result was only cosmetic on the corners, with white stress marks on the plastic.

With my 3DS XL, he dropped it on the same surfaces at least 20 time from over 3 ft. off the ground. Only scratches to the paint.

Take note that the system was closed.

So basically, you can drop it from above 3ft. on any hard surface at 20+ times. I may have been lucky, but it was pretty consistent with how much my brother dropped it, and obviously don't drop it on purpose.

Very sturdy from my experience, as long as they're closed at least.

Thanks for all the comments, as far as I read It does seem that the 3DS really Is a sturdy shell. So even a fall on the ground will leave It unharmed It seems.

I have dropped my 3DS so many times I've lost count already. You wouldn't even believe how many times I've dropped it ( I even dropped it into a pile of sand). By looking at it though you can see it's taken a beating, it's got scratches and the top painted part of my 3DS has been chipped off here and there and yet it still runs like a champ (i like it though it seems like my 3DS has survived battles LOL). So I would definitely say it's sturdy.

I dropped my XL on a wooden tiled floor, and the bottom chipped as it's got a plastic build. Athough it still works fine, I traded it and got the regular 3DS one back, which has got a better build in my opinion.

Very very durable...I've dropped mine a couple stories high, dropped it in water, volcano, in one of those grinder things, wood chuck, and it still functions and looks good as new.
(....ok not really I take good care f mine too, lol)
Anyways from what I can tell Nintendo makes very durable systems, with the only exception being the DS Lite.
