So I just started playing MH4U, and naturally I was drawn to my age old weapons of choice- the long sword, hunting horn and dual blades. I've never been a fan of the ranged weapons with half defense, and I'm not particularly fond of the lance or gun lance either. Sword and Shield is too weak and I just never bothered to learn switch axe. Great Sword, on rare occasion. Hammer, every now and then for special jobs.
But here we have 2 new weapons- the charge blade and insect glaive. I don't know what it is but something about the insect glaive is very appealing. Probably the fact you can draw buffs, mount easily and maintain high movement with weapon drawn, with decent attack power all things considered. I've decided to make this my weapon of choice for this game, seeing as hunting horn was my specialty in 3 Ultimate.
So far I'm thoroughly impressed. I think this is a brilliant weapon masterfully crafted by Capcom. I haven't tried the charge blade but I imagine it's somewhat similar to the switch axe, and judging by how popular that weapon was I'm sure the charge blade will find quite a few fans in this entry.
Just curious to hear what others think about the new weapons, particularly the insect glaive...

Seriously it's the best noob weapon out there to getting used to the new rodeo mechanics and vertical combat in MH4!
I played Mh3 before but the new mechanisms need training. Also I love the buffs from the insect. And weapon upgrading seems more complex 😃
