Topic: How Do You Hold Your 3DS?

Hi all. I've been lurking here for a while but this is my first post. I've been enjoying Ridge Racer and Pilotwings on my 3DS for about a week now, but I found that because both these games are motion-intensive I have a tendency to move the console around a lot and lose the "sweet spot" while I'm playing. However, this afternoon I opened the unit to it's fullest (i.e. flat open) and found that like that the 3D in these games is almost perfect. I could play with the 3D turned up much higher and the DS seems much steadier this way. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing.

I'm fine with the 3D, and I never open the system all the way. Even though I have no idea whether or not it's true, I always feel like I'm damaging the system if it accidentally opens all the way, and it's one of my pet peeves when I let others use it and they open it all the way.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

i got into the habit of never opening it up flat back when i had my Lite, and I've carried that through the DSi and 3DS now. :3

You guys think I could damage the system using it like that? I use my regular DS the normal way so it never really occurred to me until now.

What do you guys mean opening the system up all the way? Do you mean to when it makes that snap sound? I only did that like, twice on my original DS. I made me think the screen was breaking off.

Yeah, my DS lite went flat a lot (by accident) and the hinge ended up breaking. They may have made it sturdier on the 3DS, but I'm not taking any chances. :3

I have the same issue with moving the system around, btw. I don't really have a solution other than not playing in 3D very much, haha.

I hold mine lovingly close to me, drinking in it's beauty, caressing it gently ever so often just to show it my affection...

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I always felt like continuously opening any DS all the way gives the hinge more of a snap sound over time that makes the system sound damaged or weak. Just a weird thing for me, I never ever snap it back completely.

I tend to hold my 3ds upside-down. The 3d effect still works!

This is a signature.

I try not to hold it too close so that the 3D effect works.

this too.
the little snap feeling at the end of the angle isn't comfortable. is it ok, is it solid enough ? it seems a bit loose...
maybe they made it a bit loose to prevent breaking...
but i never open it up completely because of that.

Oohh, one of my friends was playing the fishing ar game, but he got a little over excited when he got a bite and the 3DS opened all the way (when he pulled it to get the fish).

He stopped playing with my 3DS. Forever.

and gives us so much too. yet, so much to come in the future too
that makes so much so much
i hate it when my top screen opens totally. unpleasant

I must be the only one who doesn't really care about hearing the hinge "snap" I mean I love that sound...a.nice manly CRACK. Yeah...

No but really I do it carefully and even though it snaps, it just locks in place, and im sure this is what is SUPPOSED to happen as long as you are careful with your system. Plus it just gives me a better viewing angle for most cases like when i'm laying down and such or whatever else is comfortable for me. I don't have to move around the DS as often otherwise.

I never open it all the way cause it feels more difficult to push R and L. It may be cause I'm 20 and my fingers are bigger. But when I went from my original DS to the DSi it was really annoying. Still annoys my now, I wish R and L were bigger.
