Step 2. Put in washing machine.
Step 3. Turn on washing machine.

Walk 1,000 steps. Stop, change 3DS internal date to another day. Walk another 1,000 steps. Return clock back to current date. Walk 1,000 steps.

Rinse n repeat as often as necessary.

Shake 3ds from side to side gently if you are unable to walk.

I walk my family's dog. Get 20 coins a day by doing that (I set the calender back one year when I max out on coins halfway through the walk, then change it back to the present year by the time I get home. Works like a charm). But if I don't feel like walking, I put my 3DS in my short's pocket (the bigger the pocket, the better) and bounce it on my leg while I sit on the couch while playing on the Wii, usually Brawl.
