Topic: Home menu badges?

So I watched a new video from Nintendaan (sorry, it's hard to link to videos with my phone) and OMG.

So the Japanese systems seem to have decorative badges they can place in the home menu now, like the game icons but just decorative.

With all and crane games to obtain them like collectibles.

Since when is this a thing? I never heard anything of it!

I wonder if it will come here soon?

Oh? I'll have to look that up, I can't really picture what you're describing.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

It's like having normal icons you can move around in the menu, but they're not games, just decorations.

Like, sprites and characters from games and stuff.

Some of them do look like they could be used to customize some apps, but I'm not sure.

Found it. I assume you mean this:

I haven't seen the whole video yet but the bunny is a lot more animated than the bunny in Mii Plaza.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I'm not sure what practical purpose they serve? They just seem to take up space I could otherwise be using for games

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

After all this, it won't matter what the 3DS looks like on the outside...it would matter what it looks like on the inside!

At first, I thought this was some kind of achievement system, but now that I've seen it... I never even knew I need this in my life!
The only thing that worries me is that it seems to be payment-based - 5 coins for 90¥. If I remember correctly, that should be around 50c for US and EU, no idea about UK (probably 25-30p).

After my girlfriends addiction to buying themes for her 3DS, and my addiction to buying amiibos, there's no telling how catastrophic these badges will become!

...Welp, looks like my 3DS is never going to leave my pocket again, seeing as how I'll probably become addicted to this.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

It seems that the part where the bunny transforms into a photorealistic bunny is he explaining you need real money to use the service.

From what I've seen and heard, this badge game gives you 3 free attempts per day. So if the download itself is free then it sounds like you don't have to pay anything unless you really want those badges you just missed. It looks interesting, wonder if US and Europe will get this.

Yoshi

Hmmm...I'm not the biggest fan of the badges, but if I saw correctly, the icons that replace the standard icons are pretty neat.

I hope this comes to the West.
