Topic: Here's hoping for enough 3DS' available at UK and US launch!

I pre-odered my Blue 3DS the very day Nintendo announced the plans for its release. I just hope there is enough available when it releases! I don't want to wait if I don't have to! ;(

Not necessarily, I heard that there could be a big shortage in Japan that could affect the other releases. I've also heard of pre-order sales not meeting demand on things such as games and other hardware. I believe that the Wii had that problem for almost two years.

I'm not trying to get others worried about this but really its for those who want to just go buy the 3DS in stores.

I really do not think this is a pointless thread. I think I'm making a good point that there could be shortages. Videogame companies only announce their shortages until the release of a product.

The 3DS is going to be HUGE, its a possible savor for the dip in game sales in the recent years. Wait until the main stream audience finds out about the 3DS: "So you don't need to glasses to see the 3D?"

If you preordered your 3ds from Gamestop then there is a chance that they might give it to some random guy who walks in launch day. If you preordered from amazon, then your good.

It's the idea of, "you snooze you lose" at Gamestop. I had that happen when I pre-ordered Halo 3 back in the day. I came the next day and the guys at gamestop told me they were extremely short and had to give mine away!

Wait, seriously? I was only joking. Not that I ever liked gamestop in the first place.

I'm pretty confident I'll get mine. I preordered from Amazon earlier this month. I imagine they'll be out of stock almost immediately, but they should be able to fill all of the preorders. fingers crossed

thats bull they shouldn't of had to give the copy away espically if that person that picked up ur copy didnt preorder it should be he snooze he lose

a preorder garantees a copy will not be given to anyone else but you to give it to anyone else is like they are trying to get free money off of you they should give u cash back instead of credits for that kind of attitude but oh well thats gamestop for everyone i guess

i preordered my 3ds so i should damn well be able to pick it up in the afternoon after the launch period

@cyphid I thought game preorders guaranteed you get the game at launch. I mean you paid the deposit and everything right? It sounds pretty unfair that they'd give your copy to someone else.

@JesusSaves Is that 4 million figure including preorders? I wonder how many preorders have been placed. Yeah, I don't think the 3DS will sell as fast as the DS or Wii did considering the price. Chart time!

EDIT: Well according to DollarTimes.com, a $90 Game Boy in 1989 would have been worth $161.29 of today's dollars.

I was told if I preorder a 3DS, on the day of release, I can go to the store and the unit would have my name on it.

Also, they're going to stop taking preorders on the 10th of March, but even so, I don't think the game stores where I live would be so callous as to continue to take preorders even though they can't meed the demand.

Evil Gamestop might be a different story...but I wouldn't know about that.

The best thing to do is preorder it right away - as long as you have the money and desire to buy it.

A deposit that in any case they give back to you. Worst case scenario - you go without a 3DS after getting your hopes up.

Seriously, I've heard people ask me, "Have you heard about the 3DS? It has 3D WITHOUT glasses! Isn't that cool?" Have they been living under a rock this past year?

There was this one person the other day in my Comp 1 class looking up things to write a report about, and he was like, "Wow! Look at this: They've invented something with which you can see 3D without glasses!"
