Hey! I was bought 3ds xl for my birthday a couple weeks ago- I got the console with luigi's mansion pre-installed. Thing is now I've bought the new 3ds xl and I want to transfer my network id and a newly downloaded game (the account still has some credit on) I want to do a system transfer but will luigi's mansion be transferred on to the new console? I don't want it to because I intend on selling the old device with the original pre-installed game on it... Any advice please?
What you need to do first is to transfer your account to the 3DS with Luigi's Mansion on it. Then you just redownload it from the eShop since it is deleted in the process.
Next, you transfer that stuff to the new 3DS XL. Note that you have to wait a week for a second transfer. For this transfer, do one of the following:
1. Buy a bigger micro-SD card (8 GB+) with a micro-SD to SD adapter included. Using your computer, copy and paste all the files from the second 3DS XL to the micro-SD card. Then use this micro-SD card and adapter in your Luigi's Mansion 3DS XL until you can transfer to the new 3DS XL. When you finally do the second transfer, make sure you hit "No" when it asks if you want to do a wireless transfer. Simply put the micro-SD card in the new 3DS after the transfer. I recommend watching a video on Youtube on how to do this easily.
2. Buy a micro-SD to SD adapter and manually copy and paste files to the micro-SD card that came with the new 3DS XL after you complete the transfer to the new 3DS XL. Again, make sure you hit "No" when it asks if you want to do a wireless transfer.
3. Do a wireless transfer. I have heard stories about this being more of a headache than it needs to be, so I recommend either #1 or #2 above.
Keep in mind that transfers can only be done once per week, so if you still want Luigi's Mansion, you'll have to wait a week for it on your new 3DS XL.
Long story short, you have to do two transfers. Unfortunately, you have to wait a week between them, but this is the best way to do it.
