Topic: 3DS XL touchscreen and all buttons not working?

Hi everyone,
Recently, I put some new screen protectors on my 3DS XL, but when I return, I find that not only is my touchscreen not responding, but none of my buttons as well (power button is fine, and home on occasion)! So I've removed the protector for the touchscreen, but no luck. Nintendo Repairs are around $150 right now, so any help?!

i had the same issue after i had installed the update that had miiverse. i left it alone for two weeks and for some reason it magically started working again enough so i could install the next update and after that it started working again fully. i did make a repair request and it said i wouldn't be charged. since it started working again, i never did end up sending it in. but in my case it seemed like more of a software issue then anything wrong with the actual 3DS XL.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

Aw man, so I gotta leave it alone for, like, two weeks?! I feel like I'd have better luck at a repair XD Thanks

A few questions, primarily: How did you put the protector on?

If you used a "wet" method, and you should never use this method really, then you will need to allow it to dry completely, you got water inside the unit. If you didn't, you may have pressed too hard on the screen itself while applying the protector, causing some bending or something to make a connection that wasn't suppose to connect. If that is the case you'll have to send it in for repairs.

Oddly there are more possibilities than there are buttons, the inherent problem with all electronic devices because there are so many parts involved. If you really have no idea how, or why, it stopped working correctly then you should send it in for repairs. Trying to diagnose any issue like this without having a certified repair person open it up is difficult, and can cause even more damage.

I DID use a dry method, but I did have to press pretty hard for the protector to stick and to get the air pockets out. I've just gotten off of a call with Nintendo support, and I'm going to have to send it in for repairs. I'll update you guys when it returns.

Yeah, the pressure may have done it. The best thing to do about air bubbles under the protector .... is try to ignore them. They annoy me a lot, but I'm to protective about my 3DS XL to even try to get them out anymore.
