Alright so I was one of the people who was lucky enough to buy the original 3ds before the price drop and had the ambassador program. When I updated to the 3ds xl, the dude who sold it to me said all I needed was the sd card to transfer my data. Imagine my unpleasant surprise when I got home and the sd card wasn't working (except the pics) i went back to Gamestop to try to get the situation resolved but on top of them not knowing where the hell my 3ds was, it probably sold anyway. I still have my 3ds receipt and sd card. Is there ANY way for me to get my ambassador program back?
p.s. I also have a nintendo id on my old 3ds. i tried signing on to it with my new 3ds but it didn't work. Am I utterly screwed?
I believe performing a wireless system transfer by going to the System Settings of both 3DS systems is the only way to transfer data. It won't work if you simply take the SD card of one system and put it in another. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything you can do unless you get your old 3DS back to perform the transfer. Best of luck to you.
You can try contacting Nintendo, they may be able to unlink the nnid from the 3ds without losing the rights to the games. Of course, you'll lose all your save data.
You can also insist with the shop, but they don't really have any obligation in this case.
Nintendo can help, just make sure you ask them nicely - they don't have to fix your mistakes. They are able to transfer Ambassador status to another 3DS. They can tweak your eShop account data so the new system will be able to download the missing games. You old save data is lost of course.
