The trailer revealed some of the festivals and mentioned that at least some of the villagers do move into the valley, so that's good. The terraforming and decorating aspect also looks more and more appealing with every new trailer.
I'm also on the "I prefer this to SoS" train, though I do wish that one does well, or else we won't get any new BokuMono games and the amount of hate towards Natsume by the crazed Marvelous fans will multiply by 1000.
I don't really mind either that there's no village to go to, like Donjwolf said, it can get a bit repetitive to talk to them everyday. That's what always puts me off after some time, not enough time in the day to do all the chores and talk to everyone. So fine by me, no village. I'm very much drawn to the land sculpting, and I'm eager to see how they handled things.
As far as I'm concerned I'll go for both, they will be far enough apart, by the time Story of the Seasons is released I'll be ready for a new one again.
I wanted to ask something else: Donjwolf, you mentioned a game on the Vita. Now I've been a Nintendo only person, are there good games along the lines of HM and AC on the Vita too?
@Barbiegurl777: This Harvest Moon has nothing to do with the past Harvest Moon series.
Harvest Moon as we know it is called something else in Japan I dont remember the name right now. Natsume was who handled the North American port of the game but called it Harvest Moon. Thus Natsume owns the Harvest Moon name.
Now another company Xseed I think it is is handling the North American publishing of the games that we knew as Harvest Moon but since they can't use that name they had to call it something else so they called it Story of Seasons.
Natsume then made their own version of Harvest Moon so that's why it looks different cause its not Harvest Moon if that makes sense.
In other words if you want the original Harvest Moon series get Story of Seasons. If you want a Harvest Moon knock off get Harvest Moon.

Saying it is not a real Harvest Moon is factually incorrect, and makes things confusing. It is a real Harvest Moon, just being made by another developer.
However, it is true that the old developer (and thus their previous work) is not related to this project, their newest game is being released in America under the name Story of Seasons as a new series next year.
This one seems to be going for a more simplistic experience compared to the recent previous games in the series (and Story of Seasons), so you should check out some reviews when it comes out to see if it interests you, Barbie.
In other words: if you are interested in the projects of the previous developer of the Harvest Moon series, then you should check Story of Seasons. If you want Harvest Moon, check Harvest Moon.
Not really, just a few old Harvest Moons. (BtN/Boy&Girl and Hero of Leaf Valley).
I really can't think of any other "whimsical life sim" game on the system.
I believe Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon is also on PSN. It's a HM sci-fi spin off that isn't a very good HM game, to be honest.
To the person who asked the question, the Vita sadly doesn't have much in the way of whimsical life sims. There isn't a single HM exclusive on the handheld, so you'd probably stick with the Nintendo handhelds for the genre. Back to Nature is one of the best HM games though so it's cool to have it on the go.
Already got my preorder in. I like how it's only 29.99 here in Canada at some stores. I hate having to pay a markup of 5 dollars over the US retail price.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
In the Mexican eshop they went for a literal conversion of the price (no taxes or inflated price), so that means it is super cheap to download (compared to first party titles of the same price range, at least).
I was already planing to download it, but that sealed the deal.
I wasn't even aware Canadian stores were selling the game for $29.99. It'd be nice to save some money, but going to EB is more convenient for me where I live, as opposed to having to go out of the way to the closest BB, and wasting an extra bus token. I can pretend the extra 6 dollars is going towards that preorder dog.
I made stairs up and down the mountain (you can jump over the river at the very top and see the other half of the valley early). And I'm working on layered fields to test out the seeds at different altitudes.
