from the Natsume community pages: Harvest Moon: A New Beginning now has a soft release date. That means the game has started shipping to all retail outlets that will carry it. Depending on the retail chain and how quick they are, you should start seeing on store shelves as early as next week (10/22 -10/26).

those of us who pre-ordered that game have already received/will shortly receive shipping confirmation. i got mine y'day. fed ex'ed from california to ny means my game should get here by friday. i mean: it's not easy for those fat, little cows to waddle all the way from california!

anyone else pre-ordered or planning on getting this game?

Slightly tempted to pre-order the anniversary edition, but they don't do international orders. I'll just wait for this to arrive locally. Between The Tale of Two Towns (which I barely started) and other games (it's been a good month for 3DS ), it'll be a while before I get to this one.

I Have never played any Harvest moon games before. What are they about? I have seen them everywhere but I've never really looked into it before.

I didn't preorder but I plan on getting it. Thanks for the info.
I guess Natsume wanted to make up for all those other games releasing late, lol.

They're based on the life of Neil Young.
Seriously though, it's a farming simulator. Each game has a story of its own as far as I know.
If you're interested in picking one out I suggest this new one. It has a ton of improvements over the last games with more customization.

obvious joke but it always makes me laugh.
Probably will pick this one up, cos the missus loves HM. I don't get it — what's the pleasure in that? Even Neil Young's 80s records are more enjoyable.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I play it as a mini-game. If you like farming sim games - growing different types of crops and keeping animals - then it's a nice diversion. You can also do take on quests from the townspeople, go fishing, try cooking, go on scavenger hunt, etc. with activities depend on title. Some people are into the love sim aspect, I just got it for the farming.

The Rune Factory series have a faint echo of aRPG/dungeon crawler to them, so if you get tired of farming you could go battle some monsters (or try to tame them as pets to help out at the farm, if that's your thing).

what's the pleasure in Animal Crossing? Pikmin? Earthbound? different strokes for different folks...personally, i love Crosby, Stills, Nash (and sometimes Young), lol.

What is a good HM handheld game? Need a good simulator to ease my AC tension.

I'm willing to bet this will be a great one, and you'll probably be able to get it this week, so I would recommend getting this one.

I used to travel the stars, then I discovered Earth, and these incredibly addicting things called 'Video Games.'
