I've tried my friend's 3DS and it's awesome, the graphics are equal to Vita. Look at Resident Evil coming out soon. Soon 3DS will have crazy graphical capabilities plus they have 3D effects.

3DS is awesome, I love mine. I don't know if it's a true statement that the graphics are equal to Vita, but I don't think it really matters. What matters are the games, and I love my 3DS because it has Mario, Zelda, etc. Resident Evil will be great too. Have fun, I hope you can endure the wait until your birthday!
