Slackers is way better than Gamestop, and they carry games for pretty much every system ever made.
Agreed (although I wish they had 32X games), and they have much better used game prices and trade-in value than Gamestop. On top of that, they also sell CDs and dabble in comics, action figures, and movies, plus they have new promotions/sales every 2 months.
It's too bad that they're only in eastern Missouri and western Illinois, but I luckily have two of them within 15 minutes of my house.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I've never heard of Slackers before, so I looked up their locations, and unfortunately the closest location to my location, Chicago, is 5 hours away lol
I do find it amusing that they have a store in O'Fallon, IL and O'Fallon, MO as well though lol
I haven't had any negative experiences with Gamestop, as well. The only thing I don't approve of is their in-game content reserves. I hate missing out on in-game content because I didn't reserve my game at the right store. However, this is a gripe with all video game retailers, as Gamestop isn't the only offender.
I kinda agree with you here. Except my gripe is more or less when reserve specifics with in-game content start splitting up as retailer exclusives, then you're really missing out. I know that type of stuff is for promotional purposes, but it's rather unfair to us, the gamers, and a huge rip-off to try and reserve from each reserve piece of in-game content. It's something I wish the developers/publishers would consider or have more control over or whomever makes these types of decisions. As for the trade-ins thing, yea, I can honestly say I feel the $ amount for trade-ins is indeed a rip off, which is why i don't trade in very often anymore. I'd rather get at least half back what I paid for if I'm gonna put it towards a new game. Other than that, I really can't think of any other problems I've had with GameStop.

Hey guys, Gamestop actually reads their surveys....
I love going to Gamestop and buying used games from them, but what I love most is when they give you $15 for your DS Lite and then turn around and sell it for ten times that amount. Best feeling ever to see your old Lite behind the glass is worth so much cash.
once i went there to trade some games towards a new 3DS because they have a promotion where you get 25 dollar trade in value for every game that has a minimum trade in value of 8 dollars, i had my Pokemon Black and Epic Mickey the guy said for those two games alone i'd get 64.64 for the both of them. So they don't always have crappy trade in values.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
I was able to trade in my DSlite with a crack in it and got the normal price they pay for it, so I never had problems there. I never had problems with GameStop. They sell games, I buy them, I am happy. They are everywhere where I live (Central Florida).

Who's gonna buy a Lite for $150?

Gaming stores often pay you 1/4 the price they sell the game used. For example: At Gamestop they sell a game used for $10. They will probably give you $2.50 for it.
They've lost a lot of my new-game business to competitors because of their lack of a price match policy. Great place to buy used games though!
That's on purpose you know. They make most of their profit off used games which is why compared to other locations they pay the least for trade-ins and put the price on stuff just a few dollars under new to maximize the effect.
Either way it's kind of expected there with their tactics, but the one huge offense of the place is their selling opened box product as new. You break the seal, it's not new, especially when they then put a sticker(or more) on the plastic and then leave the manual and other inserts out there for people to finger...and you have no idea where that finger has been. Also Gamestop with their open boxed sold as new scam product, they allow employees to check the games out to learn the material if they like, they just have to blank the save if it's not disc based before returning it — again making it not new. If I have to go into that place, I'll offer to pay used on their open product and if they don't and insist it's new I leave it and walk elsewhere.

yeah, it was great when I bought a used copy of Mass Effect for 54.99 at Gamestop and then a couple months later went to Wal-Mart and found Mass Effect 2 for 19.99.
I have bought used copies of Paper Mario for the game cube Twice...
Both where unreadable when i tried to play them at home... Which is weird because every other used game i bought from them these times worked perfectly...
It's complicated to to complain to them because the nearest gamespot to me is like... 2 days worth of travel away and i only visit it once a year.
@abgar Did you try it in your Wii or in your Cube. Because I ordered a used Viewtiful Joe copy off Amazon, and the Wii couldn't read it or kept saying "An error has occurred", but my Cube plays the game like a dream.

For most of the really big releases they'll do a good trade in deal so you can get more money out of games you don't want anymore and put them towards the new hot one.
I once got $2 trade-in credit for trading in a brand-new Nintendo game.
Unless you live in a third-world country, I do not call that a good trade deal.
You don't have to trade it in if you don't want to. Anyway I'm referring to deals like "get an extra 50% or an extra $10 dollars if you trade anything in towards [fill in the blank]". I just save games I'm done with until a new game I want comes out with a nice deal like that attached to it.

Well, my gamecube won't read any disk... so... I may get another one used from Gamespot then, they sell gamecubes for 30 dollars xD

You could always try ordering a copy online. That really stinks though...
