I Think, Nintendo has made all the money they need on Re-makes
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Please no more remakes of games you could already play on your Wii. It makes absolutely no sense to me since most hardcore gamers who will buy a 3DS have most likely a Wii, too. I would love to see remakes of rare and older Nintendo classics like Earthbound. But all these remakes of last generation's bestsellers are just lousy cash-ins in my opinion. Especially when a next-gen console is already backwards compatible.
Do we really need "New Play Control now in 3D"-releases? My answer is NO! First of all I want new games on 3DS (with some new franchises) and the handheld Virtual Console with many Gameboy/GBC/GBA classics. Nintendo should reduce its excessive output of remakes especially on the handheld sector. I would prefer if Nintendo concentrates on delivering new franchises instead.
Sorry guys i didn't mean it as a straight up re-make i met a gamecube game with added touch screen, voice input, and of course 3D capabilities. on top of that, it'd be portable.
Well, since we're getting 64 remakes, I'm thinking we'll get GC remakes on 4DS
The Ds 1 had super mario 64
That is TLinkerbell to you! [17:17] theblackdragon: considering i have neither an xbox nor a ps3 :3 [17:17] Corbie: Nintendo fangirl alert!!!! [17:17] James Newton: Uh oh The James Ne...
I can't believe that they didn't make Super Mario Sunshine a launch title! Seriously, they amde Super Mario 64 a launch title for the DS, why not Super Mario Sunshine for 3DS?

not just that but:
even though the GBA was the home to most SNES ports some made it to the GBC
some NES ports found a home on the GBC but there were probably more on the original GB
the GBA was known for its SNES ports but the best SNES ports appeared on the DS (Chrono Trigger, Yoshi's Island)
I know some people own every system and every game from every past system but most people don't. I don't think its crazy to think that the 3DS will end up with a bigger install base than the SNES, N64 and Gamecube. More to the point, if people are happy to buy a 3DS version of Wind Waker or Luigi's Mansion or even Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64. Why not do it? If you own all the past games then nobody is forcing you to buy it. These "normal people" on the other hand are more than happy to pay money for it.... do you want them to leave the platform?
There is also the argument that doing remakes takes development time/money away from making new IPs. I doubt that. What's more likely to happen is that they put some people on these comparatively easy games and then rake in the cash. Cash that they can then spend on the R&D which is used to make those risky new ideas work. If it wasn't for the newbies buying New Play Control Pikmin and such there wouldn't be a 3DS.
@soccer686 yup, but it was sooooo close to the original that its more of a remake than a sequel or re-imagining. There are even a few levels in it that are copied exactly from the original..... all up though, I think its fair to say that the DS "remake" was a better quality "port" than the GBA version.
