I doubt it would work or not, but was thinking about 2D games like the Mario games. You think the depth slider could be used during gameplay, like you had it in 2D and you run into an obstacle, switching the 3D on would cause the obstacle to be "pushed back" so you could continue. Or like with platforms that were in 3D could be in the background and turning back to 2D would "flatten them" or something so they're able to be jumped on or something. I dunno, was just thinking about that randomly, thought it could be neat...but I doubt it'll happen.

That would feel like SPM and I think i would be good, but I think theyll do the whole wii style thing with some games where they say "nunchuck is Required" but theyll say "Having the Slider in 2D is required" or Visa Versa.

Not talking about like Super Paper Mario, just about a regular "2D" game...like when you turn the 3D on and give that "obstacle" depth it would appear in the background and you could pass by. Turning the 3D off would just "flatten" the depth and stuff in the background could become obstacles and stuff.

You're not understanding, lol. Think of Super Mario Bros. 3 with those hills, with the 3D off they'll just be regular old platforms, but with the 3D turned on and the hills having depth you could go behind them and stuff. Not like Super Paper Mario guys. xD

Maybe they could have it where when it's in 2D it appears you can't get through, but in 3D view there is an opening and vice versa. It would just be a graphical trick.

Yeah, kinda, except I wasn't thinking about the graphics actually changing. Just like 2D the platform would appear flat and able to be jumped on, and putting the 3D on could like slide it back into the background,

Yes, you do that exact same thing in Super Paper Mario.
We're not sure yet if the 3D slider changes can be detected by the game. If so, it could be used for some interesting stuff, but I wonder how much damage that would do to your eyes over time...
@BellGoRiiing i guess what you are saying is when we leave it on 2D you can play in the fore ground. but if you switch to 3D you can play in the backround and maybe up to a 3rd backround all the way in the back. this would mainly work by seperating the foregrounds features from the the backrounds features using 3D so we can tell which of the features are in the foreground or are in the backround or way in the backround. OMG that would be sweet . you would be able to tell which features belong to the fore, back, and way in the backround and thats how we would play that game. That is a very neat idea. Neat indeed

That's a fantastic idea, and definitely possible. Think about it, guys, this is what Nintendo meant when they said 3D could change the gameplay, not just the graphics. I think it might just happen, BellGoRiiing. Perfect for Paper Mario/Steel Diver/Super Mario Bros.

Yeah, you get it. xD
Though like some others said, its mainly just like the volume slider on Lite...so, I dunno if its actually possible...unless Nintendo already made it...erm, possible. xD

I think that would just defeat the purpose of the depth slider, which if I remember correctly was to adjust the 3D effect for when it hurt people's eyes. This idea would probably result in a neat game or two... that would make people nauseous.
