It has been confirmed that Super Mario Land & Zelda: Link's Awakening DX from the Game Boy era, are the first two games to come out for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in 2011.http://www.cubed3.com/news/14671.html

They should port the Pokemon games, but update them to work with pal park on 4th and 5th gen games.
I can dream.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Umm... that article was posted on September 29th - we've known this for over a month! Also, I believe that while some 'classic games' are going to be in 3D, the Game Boy VG games are not.

Does this mean I can pack away my original GB now? I will definantly be getting SML. Not to sure about Links Awakening for some odd reason I was never a big fan of the Zeldas on GB.

I just hope they put Oracle of Ages/Seasons there soon after it comes out.

Sweet! I was wondering if we'd get the DX or regular versions (since with the Wii they seem so intent on "preserving the original experience." Good to see we're getting the version with the extra level (and color).

That is so awesome. I hope these are also the US Launch titles for the Virtural Console too. That would give 3DS owners who get it on launch day or soon after some games to enjoy before Nintendo builds up the library.

Already got Link's Awakening DX, but I'd gladly pick up a copy of Super Mario Land.

I'll be getting both, since I lost my copy of Super Mario Land and I've never played any handheld Zelda game.

What is the appeal of porting over the old, didn't-age-well, unbalanced, very difficult original games? Unless you're referring to FireRed and Lifegreen.

Sweet, I'm really happy to hear it's the DX version. I own the original and it really could've benefited from some color, lol.
I made Kid Tripp! PocketGamer gave it a 9 out of 10! You should totally buy it now!
