Looking at the trailer, one thing unnoticed is that it looked like Alm blocked an attack, but took 1 damage. (In Gaiden, all attacks do at least 1 damage no matter what so that seems to still be in)
However I didn't see Celica's health go down when she used magic so that may have been changed.

@Luna_110 On the nintendo website it shows the cover of the box art so I assume it will have a physical release. Digital only isn't something nintendo does often anyway so I wouldn't worry.
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA
I think I'd be worried if Nintendo relagated a new Fire Emblem game to only the eShop, especially after the crap they pulled with Fire Emblem Fates. I'm pretty sure the $100+ for the full content of Revelations that plenty of fans were apparently willing to put down was more than enough to help land a sequel...
So is this a remake of Gaiden, or an actual new game? I don't think I picked up on that.
Otherwise I think this looks much more like a Fire Emblem game than Fates/Awakening were (not to start that whole argument). Actual dungeon crawling with small battles is interesting, but I'm curious about how much of the newer stuff will carry over (skills, class trees, home bases, etc). I generally prefer the older title's simplicity in that Supports and class trees are the variation you get in characters as opposed to mess that skill transferring has become.

This is going to be sweet, a new Zelda and a new Fire Emblem in a span of 2 months. Also loving the artwork as well, it has an old school FE feel to it. I believe the artist is Hidari who also did a few of the Atelier games.
@nf_2 they said something like a "reimagining" of Gaiden so it seems like it will be similar overall with some differences as well. I've also recognized some of the chapters that were shown off so it seems to follow them fairly closely overall.

Looking forward to this. I'm hoping the skill tree is a tad reduced, Fates gave me a few headaches working through the options it brought. Wondering how long this is, since it looks like the chapter system is replaced by a branching map, though I'm going to try not to peek in on the original to not spoil it.
I'm guessing the same as you @DarthNocturnal and I'd bet that "The Binding Blade" would be next.

It's "inspired by" Gaiden. In other words, it will have a similar gameplay style to that of the original Japan-exclusive Fire Emblem Gaiden (with more free-roaming/dungeon crawling aspects to the game), whilst being a completely new entry in the series.
The class tree is the part I'm looking forward to most, besides the "free-roaming" bit. I liked upgrading and changing my guy's classes. Really let me play around with different strategies & whatnot, though I guess more modern FE games caught up with it, to an extent, but actually having some flexibility in the stages you use and having areas where you could grind besides just a simple colluseum really added to that. It went from a straight, level-to-level progression, to "do I go to the next major area? Or do I see what's in this cave?" When you factor in the perma-death, you got the kinda feeling a lot of rogue-lites like to play around with these days, I feel.
Seems like a reimagining. Same continent, same general story, same characters... but with some changes obviously.
Ive played some of Gaiden on NES and it always seemed miles beyond the first game. That music sticks in your head too, 🎶 mee-no mee-no 🎶 Mee-no Mee-no 🎶 MEE-no MEE-no 🎶 Mee-no Mee-no 🎶

@DarthNocturnal oh, looks like it's a store available to those with a Nintendo Account and may have some exclusive things to purchase as well. The website will open on the 23rd in Japan. https://store.nintendo.co.jp
Maybe we will see something similar in other regions as well.

The frustration I had when trying to find the special edition of Fates means that I will likely just settle for the standard edition of Echoes. Besides, I am still hoping that Dark Horse Books will give Fates (and Echoes eventually) the big book treatment. That art book they did for Awakening is pretty awesome.
Same here. I'm not going through what I put up with the Special Edition again. I'm not a retail download fan, so not being able to find a retail copy was a huge blow.

My biggest fear for this game is that it won't do enough to update Gaiden-- with the confirmation of full voice acting and anime cutscenes, it's hopeful that the main story has been updated. But the possibility of supports, re-designed maps that don't compete with Awakening in terms of utter blandness, and other such improvements are still up in the air.

I'm pretty sure they outright confirmed all of that. I don't think they even explicitly called it a remake. Just that it was "inspired" by Fire Emblem Gaiden.
