Hello everybody, I've recently decided to buy a fire emblem game, but I'm now facing an hard choice.
I can't decide whether to buy Awakening or Fates. Both of them seem great games, but, as I'm new to the saga I would like to hear your opinion on this.
Another thing, Echoes is not available in my area yet, so would it be better just to wait for it?

I don't think it really matters which game you decide to get first. The 3DS FE games are all designed to be very easy for newcomers to get into.

However, I would suggest that you get Awakening first since it has only one story line to play through.

I decided to buy Birthright as my first Fire Emblem.

It has all the ease of Awakening, with the possibility of expansion via the other two storylines.

Awakening is the better game between them, but as Meowpheel mentioned if you like Birthright (or Conquest) it's cheaper and easier to get another game.

My first game was Awakening, and while I haven't yet played FE: Fates, Birthright is supposed to be more beginner-friendly. That said, I absolutely enjoyed playing through Awakening and wholeheartedly recommend it!

This is a trilemma. Wait for Echoes.

Play Conquest of course. Best beginner game

I'd say start with Awakening but Fates isn't a bad choice either. Awakening is very beginner friendly and all around great game. If you choose to go with Fates, know that Birthright is the best option for a beginner. Conquest is designed with veteran players in mind. It seems like Echoes is also going to be geared a bit more towards those who want challenge since the classic games were more challenging to begin with. Then again, all the games have difficulty options where you can also turn off permadeath.

It's its, not it's.

Honestly, Casual and Easy modes made all the games accessible. Birthright didn't even need to be beginner friendly.
