The Nintendo direct really made me want this game. I love the Final Fantasy World and MMO style games have always been dangerously addictive to me. My only issue is with the release date. I'll be starting essentially my last semester of my grad program and I want to get my degree.

I'm not sure i want to get into this game. I can see myself ignoring all my other games for months on end as i get too addicted to them. I may have to set limits if i do get this as in play it only on a certain day or 2.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I'm kinda hyped for this game along with Monster Hunter Stories. Never can have enough action rpgs.
As for the costumes, are they're kind of power-ups instead of standard outfits/classes?
@Dezzy: Yes, it is. With all its (bad) modifications implemented since the GBA version. (Magic points instead of slots and you are forced to play the "easy mode" available on the Playstation remake: equipment is less pricy, and your characters stats grow up faster while the level-up is also faster!)
This is the most bizarrely unhyped game ever. You'd think there'd be some excitement but I swear I hear more about Etrian Odyssey games than what looks like Final Fantasy meets Monster Hunter.
I like Final Fantasy, but based on the demos for the 3DS games, I'm not too stoked about Monster Hunter, so I'm not sure if it's something I should be excited for (yes, I know it's said MH is something you have to play for at least 20 hours to really start to 'get', but that's a lot of an investment for something I still may not like).
I think I'd like it a bit more if the big monster fights weren't so drawn out (maybe the monsters would stay in the same room/area the entire fight), and more exploration was added (maybe you could just explore the world, exploring dungeons, fighting more smaller enemies, and finding treasure chests). If this is like that, I might be able to get into it.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

It's Japanese review scores were pretty mediocre, I think. I guess Square Enix knows that...
Currently bored (while change when I stop being bored)
@RR529: Definitely not 20 hours to get Monster Hunter. I'm not trying to convince you or anything but if you don't have the handle on it by say 5 hours then you might want to move on. The first big monster fight is where most people hop on or off. If it doesn't have you by then which is where most people get hooked then it most likely never will. The time consuming part is learning the gathering system and what parts make what items, weapons, and armor. It's something you want to learn if you get hooked and there's nothing like the hunt in any other game I've played. Each new monster presents a different challenge and even the same monster over and over can as well.
As for this game it was mentioned above that the scores from Japan were less then stellar and yes I want the game but I'm also sceptical as well!
i was wondering if someone could tell me how to do the crystal surge thing. I keep getting my resonance over 100 but for some reason I can't trigger the crystal surge even though I'm touching the right buttons. and it's hard to find monsters all in one place.
