If they could do a visual upgrade of VI like they did on the DS with III and IV I would be very, very happy. Of course with the 3DS's improved hardware it could be visually astounding - along the lines of FFXII or XIII even. And then that would be an awesome FF game.
I would prefer remakes of Final Fantasy VII - IX since the 2D games on SNES (and the GBA/PS1 remakes) look still nice today. But the 3D games for the Playstation 1 look just too ugly nowadays especially on a modern television. I don't understand why Square didn't already make proper ports or remakes of those classics. A Final Fantasy VII - IX collection for Wii or remakes on XBLA/PSN with improved visuals would definitely be a huge sales hit. Maybe we will see a 3DS release.
I can agree with VII... but VIII and IX still look great.
Besides, Square has always been loathe to do remakes of their PSOne-era Final Fantasies. And actually, considering the amount of rabid fanaticism surrounding them (VII and VIII anyway), I'm happy for them not to remake them because it'll just end up with loads of pointless moaning on the internet about how they changed it, it's now ruined.
IX could just do with an up-res and smoothing out. The assets were really high quality, especially when you consider that some of them were re-used for Crystal Chronicles!
I wonder if they'd go Chibi style again for the remakes... could be better to go FFVII/GS:DD style... chibi overworld, full sized for battles.

@Oregano I don't think that would suit the styles of VIII or IX. VIII was very realistic (with good reason), while IX was a throwback to the SD style of I-VI. The art direction for them was very tight.

I meant for V and VI. I wouldn't mess with VIII or IX's style.

@Gmls719 I was just exaggerating. I thought the story wasn't as well-developed as IV, and the characters were a bit bland. That aside, I liked the class changing system, though that has been redone and surpassed many times nowadays.
There are still some people who think of it as boring so clearly it hasn't been remade enough times to iron out whatever makes it boring to them people.

And you think a remake couldn't make the story and characters more interesting? Look at how they built upon the NES Final Fantasy III for the DS remake. Just because a game was originally bland and wasn't well-developed doesn't mean a remake would be too. The whole point of a remake after all is to improve what was originally flawed after all. Bartz and Exdeath in Dissidia are quite interesting characters and a remake would likely base their personalities as how they were portrayed in Dissidia. Even battle systems get enhanced greatly for the remakes too - neither of the ones so far play just like the originals.
Awesome avi, and I would love a remake of VI, don't really care about V though.
And I thought FFXIII's voice acting was pretty good.
I think Disney has been supplying most of the VA's, these days. Disney voice actors are usually pretty good. Christy Carlson Romano has been playing Yuffy ever since Kingdom Hearts.

Either way, I didn't connect with V like I did with the other FFs I've played, so I don't have any particular desire to see a remake of the game. If they improve the story and characters to that same level as them, more power to them.
Why not just make a completely revamped version of the original for the NES?

I hear that FFV and FFVI remakes on 3DS are being considered.....
