A Layton game without Layton in it, though? That's like an Indiana Jones movie without Indiana Jones. Unless it looks really notable, I think I'll pass on this in respect of the late professor.
On the plus side, he didn't link Siliconera. I will admit, I wish I knew Japanese, because the source doesn't actually make it clear whether or not they've actually revealed the title, or if they're planning a big event and the source is simply speculating. [EDIT: Oh wait, I can memorize katakana at least, and yes, the press release from their official website does mention Fantasy Life 2]
I suppose Fantasy Life 2 will be 90% a copy-and-paste of the first game, like the majority of Level-5 games? It will be a shame if it is, as the first game was great.
im really excited for Fantasy Life 2, i need finish the first one before getting the sequel

I'm with you.
How about a Fantasy Life for the WiiU? I can't see how they can do something different on a 3DS, while on the WiiU they could create a huge openworld, adding more depth.
And yes, I'd certainly take those too. The thing about Fantasy Life is, I played it for around 100 hours, loved the portability (it was my go-to game during my holidays trip, in fact), but I still couldn't help but think how awesome it would be to play it in glorious HD on a big screen.
I think there's certainly a market for more cartoonish-looking RPGs / adventure games on Nintendo's home consoles. Just look at how incredible the lighting looks on Wind Waker HD. I hope Square Enix will at least consider the platform for Dragon Quest XI, although I think that's doubtful at this point.
I spent a crazy amount of time playing Fantasy Life, but if the sequel is simply more of the same, I don't know that I'd buy it.
I've only been able to complete one Layton game, and Layton 7 just looks bizarre, so I doubt I'd purchase it.
