From what I've seen you can play with up to two other players.(Meaning 3 total at a time that includes yourself)

Yeah the FANTASY LIFE LINK trailer only shows three(3) players on screen at a time a fourth would probably distort the connection meaning lag. :T

Well, I guess that answers the question.

Yeah I saw that too, but I greatly believe local or online its only (3)three players max.
Also has anyone noticed that this and The new smash for 3DS come out in the same month!? I'm worried about what this could mean for the games sales.

Well, I know NL is not perfect, but I think if they state something like that, it most likely is true.

Also, September/October is going to kill my wallet. Curtain Call, Hyrule Warriors, Smash 3DS, Bayonetta 2, Fantasy Life....
And then we have Smash Wii U, Captain Toad, and countless eShop titles on top of that.

Loving the potential of this game, it's a great setup. But looking at the trailers and that treehouse commentary, I'm really worried that it's gonna be yet another Nintendo game that's aimed at kids.
The 3DS is really starting to lack games that have any emotional or intellectual depth in my opinion. I dunno if anyone else is finding that?

Rune Factory 4, SMT4, Ace Attourney 5, Fire Emblem Awakening, and even Pokemon X/Y (to an extent) exist, so no.

That said, if you're looking for a story in Fantasy Life, you're gonna have a bad time.

I don't necessarily need a story. A Link Between Worlds had almost no story, that was still brilliant.
Maybe I'm being unfair in judging things based on their visual style, I just wished the 3DS had a few more games that were clearly aimed at adults. I think the Wii U library has probably a slightly older audience in mind than the 3DS does.
It just seems to me that most Nintendo games are made for a very wide audience, like Mario and Zelda. Anyone can enjoy those. But then on top of that, there seem to be quite a few games that are specifically aimed for the younger audience. But then there are almost no games that balance that out by being deliberately for the older audience.

(I haven't actually tried Prof Layton yet, so maybe I'll give it a go!)

But when 3DS gets mature games, it's still more mature than most mature games.

Like the Zero Escape series embarrasses most console games in this regard because it trust you can...think, for example.

Like I love stuff like Bulletstorm and Red Faction: Guerrilla, but they are adolescent shooty games (well ok, Red Faction Guerrila is more of an explodey game) and I fail to see why we need that on a handheld anyway? And even ignoring all that, even the legit Mature games frequently have a heavy use of being cinematic or having a certain atmosphere (if not both) that wouldn't be as appealing on a small screen.

Can you get married like in Fire Emblem or Harvest Moon games?

I don't think you can become romantically involved with NPC but from a pic I saw on the official jp site there were hearts over a male and female avatar, so maybe with other players.

As far as the age range I see where @Dezzy is coming from after playing AC:NL the age range is indeed large but it mostly attracted people 5-15 ( that was at least the more common age groups I ran into ). But at the same time this really is just to help sales, the game supposedly- WILL have hardcore JRPG aspects but will have a cute style at the same time. Then again so did Dragon Quest 9 and it was still an amazing game!

Ha, please don't interpret me as claiming that bulletstorm and red faction are aimed at adults. They're aimed at teenage boys. Which I haven't been for a long time.
Thank you for reminding me about Virtue's Last Reward though, I still haven't got hold of that. The games like that never seem to sell well on Nintendo handhelds though. The same for MGS 3D and RE:Revelations. I don't really understand why. Especially given that Revelations was an exclusive AND one of the best Resident Evil games in the last decade.

that's exactly the type of fighting i want!! reminds me of that mmorpg i was playing a few years ago. since then i understand how people can get addicted to videogames. fantasy life won't be as bad though. it just can't be compared to a mmorpg on a pc.

Games like VLR don't sell well on consoles, either. Kids and Teenagers are far more lucrative groups than mature adults, at least at the moment.
