As far as I'm aware, I'm afraid it's single-player only.

Dang, I figured so, was just hoping if someone heard about the features for the game. I hope there is some street pass features or something. It would be cool to share some levels you make!

They haven't said anything on multiplayer but just as the others said- it's unlikely. I wonder how creating tracks and sharing it will work. Don't know if it's online or not.
Just as you said- StreetPassing tracks.

or streetpass ghost data so it would have a kind-of multiplayer albiet against someones ghost.

I heard it has no track sharing, which is kind of sad if true. Streetpassing tracks would have been awesome.

That would just fine, if it does have the feature! I can see myself overheating too much to try and have a worthy ghost data for other players! I used to be so freaking good when I was little when I played the original version on the NES, hopefully I can rekindle my skills...

Since there’s been no word, I expect there to be no difference except 3D.
It surprises me how busy my friend list is with my 3DS continuously blinking orange! Well, the update will come eventually. We’ll be able to play Excitebike 3D, but at this point we might have to wait for the morning.

According to the Nintendo website it is supposed to have native resolution for the 3DS screen and a dual-screen track editor.

There's something I'm wondering about. The SpotPass Notification refers to it as "3D Classics: Excitebike," meaning it's a virtual console game, but I've never heard of a GameBoy Excitebike. Does this mean that the 3DS is having the NES on it's list of virtual consoles? Or is there some GameBoy port of Excitebike I've never heard of?
I'm pretty okay.

Wait, now I remember it was rereleased on GBA as part of the NES revisit line. Maybe this means GBA games then? I have no idea anymore.
And why is Nintendo running so late with the update? Maybe there's a few last minute bugs?

@Destroyer 3D Classics is a separate line of downloadable titles that takes a retro game and adds 3D effects, different than Virtual Console and 3DSWare.

It's a new 3ds port.

3D Classics can be anything that they want to make into 3D, no matter what system. Virtual Console is "separate" from 3D classics as it is more restricted to certain consoles.

It really makes me wonder about N64 3D classics but that is a stretch.

Holy crap, I'm amazed at how utterly drop dead gorgeous the 3DS looks.....Best hand held design on the market. I've got the aqua Blue and it looks just beautiful. The analog stick feels much better and tighter than i expected, but is it supposed to make a clickish sound once in a while? Anyways, phenomenal build/quality....I can't stop looking at the thing.
Anyways, this was an epic unboxing....Since I also unwrapped a Nintendo Power NES edition magazine which came with a giant retro Super Mario Bros 2 Poster, I unwrapped Sponge Bob Season 1 on DVD and had it blasting in the background in it's crazy colorful whacked out aquatic glory, then there's the shy guy Mario toy and of course NIntendog's + Cats, SSF IV 3D and PilotWings.
So far, I've only messed around with the 3DS menu options and PilotWings. As for the 3D, the first time i experienced i was like "woa! wow" and that was during the menu icon backgrounds. I made a Mii, fiddled with the Camera and the like. Although it's weird how my bottom screen looks slightly slightly clouded. And the only fault I have with the device is the awfuly LOW sound input. It sounds fine and loud enough without headphones i guess, but with headphones it's so bloody quite, much quiter than the DS lite. Such a shame...
As for the games, I've only played a bit of PilotWings Resort, for maybe 15-20 minutes. The 3D is awesome! When you're using your hand glider and if you tilt the analog forward and back you can(at times) get it so it looks like the hand glider is popping off the screen! I love the sense of depth, it's especially impressive with the Mii and hand glider itself....It all just seems right, this is how all videogames should look. 3D is anything but a gimmick, it creates this window into a virtual world and it's bloody incredible at times. The Pop out effect imo is a tad more impressive than the in depth. I noticed grass quickly flying off the screen whenver I hit a tree in PilotWings Resort. Aside from the 3D, I can't exactly say this game is for me....I knew it wouldn't be, but i wanted to experience the 3D and I'm glad I have, even though I've only put 15 minutes into it. SFIV will most likely get most of my game time, that's a dead given until I get Zelda OOT 3D and Resident Evil Mercanaries.
I'm going to fire up NIntendog's + Cats, SSFIV 3D, download ExciteBikie and Super Mario Land, play with the AR Cards, Face Raders and ect ect for tonightt.
So far, the 3DS has surpassed my expectations, but I'm really let down by the low sound....And again, is the analog stick supposed to make click-ish sounds once in a while? And there's the bottom screen which seems mildy clouded.
